What is Not American

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

“A Fight for our Democracy.” This quote is from President Joe Biden. I am saddened to confirm the accuracy of this statement. Everyone on the right side of the aisle is willing to destroy the nation of our Founding Fathers. The November 5th election will decide if the United States will continue to be a nation which treasures freedom and equality, or surrender to the fascist ambitions of Trump and his “MAGA Republicans.”

Anyone willing to accept the truth is aware that Donald John Trump is not a patriotic American. His loyalty has always been to himself and a deep desire for fame and fortune. To put it simply, he is an opportunist infected with a crippling disease called malignant narcissism.

IT IS EASY TO DESCRIBE WHAT IT MEANS TO BE AN “AMERICAN”

For me, being an American begins with a deep devotion to the principles and ideals of our Founding Fathers contained in two documents: the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution.

The United States of America is composed of more than 330 million people. It is not found in Washington with its impressive buildings or the 546 men and women who control our nation’s future. The basic principle, the reason our Founding Fathers created a new nation, was to ensure that the people of this country will always have the strongest voice in the governing of America. Therefore, voting is not just a right, it is a responsibility.

The choice to create a Democratic Republic as the system of governance for the United States included their primary reasons for leaving England and moving to the New World. First and foremost was to forever prevent the establishment of a monarchy or any form of autocratic government. Second was to guarantee that every man, woman, and child would have representation and a voice in how America was governed.

For the most part, this worked well until 2017.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN OUR COUNTRY TODAY IS NOT AMERICAN

On November 8, 2016, the results of a “rigged” election gave the presidency to a man who hates America. Over the next four years Donald Trump would constantly divide our nation’s people and violate the Constitution on each of the 1,460 days he was in office. He would accomplish nothing with the exception of giving additional, permanent tax deductions to the super-rich. Before his eviction from the White House, he planned, organized and executed an attempted coup, and violated the Espionage Act, stealing boxes of classified material.

This was in the aftermath of becoming the first, illegitimate president to reject one of our most revered traditions, a peaceful transfer of power. Trump never was and never will be an American.

MAY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY R.I.P.

Trump did not succeed in destroying America, yet. However he was critical in the final implosion of the once Grand Old Party. First came the TEA Party, next the Freedom Caucus, and finally Vladimir Putin’s puppet, Donald John Trump.

From his own filthy mouth Trump admitted that he will become America’s first dictator if elected in November. His party supports him. Trump was not and never would be an American president, representing all of our nation’s people. He admits that he will only be supporting the traitors who support him. He does not believe in the Constitution and would not protect the freedoms and rights of all Americans. In fact, he would shred the Constitution, with the exception of the Second Amendment.

MANY “FIRSTS,” BUT ZERO POSITIVE ACCOMPLISHMENT

We know that Trump will be remember for many things, many “firsts.” However, none of these are attached to what it means to be a loyal and patriotic American.

He will be remembered as the first illegitimate president whose win in the Electoral College was a gift from the leader of a foreign nation. Trump will be remembered as the first president to be impeached twice in just four years, and never received a fair trial in the Senate. He will be remembered for too many Constitutional violations to count. He will be remembered as the only sitting president who attempted to overthrow his own government. He will be remembered and judged by history as the worst president in history. The latter will last until the end of time, at least I hope so.

WHY I AM DEEPLY SADDENED, AND HAVE LITTLE HOPE

A president can be removed. His policies can be voided by the legislative branch. However, a large number of both the legislative and judicial branches of our government have surrendered their power, their dignity, and their loyalty to a man who is unfit for any public office. His failure to protect our country’s people from a lethal infestation known as Covid-19, proved without a doubt that he is not capable of leading our nation, and has no desire to do so.

WE DESERVE BETTER: WE DO NOT DESERVE A PRESIDENT WHO WILL BRING DISGRACE AND DESTRUCTION TO AMERICA

I was born during the Truman Administration. I remember the 13 presidents who succeeded him. I place three of them on the list of “worst presidents in history.” Only one deserves to be on the short list of “greatest presidents in American history.” He remainder were simply adequate.

The American people deserve a president who will serve every man, woman, and child in our nation. A woman or man who will not believe that the job of our nation’s leader is to play golf, party with millionaires and billionaires at a resort in Florida, hold hate rallies across America to soothe his or her fragile ego, or watch propaganda on television. He or she must have a work schedule which exceeds three hours a day.

Most importantly, we deserve a patriotic American whose only loyalty is to all of our nation’s people. This is not Trump, or any man and woman calling themselves a “Republican.”
