Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart Two television broadcasts I never missed were “60 Minutes,” and “CBS Sunday Morning.” The Sunday morning broadcast is composed of positive stories about real people and a perfect way to begin a Sunday morning. “60 Minutes” was the only news show I watched because it was a hard-hitting broadcast which exposed the truth about people and things happening in our country and around the world. However, Mike Wallace is turning over in his grave today. My mother, brother, and I watched the CBS evening news every evening in the 1950s and 1960s. Walter Cronkinte informed us of the most important events in just 30 minutes. He was rightfully known as the “most trusted man in America.” The new editor-in-chief of CBS News is a woman by the name of Bari Weiss. She constantly reveals her position as a Trump sycophant as she heavily edits every major production from her network. Just weeks ago, the statistics related to viewership of my articles had increased to approximately 1,500 per day. However, the majority of my articles expose Trump and his plan to end democracy in America and establish a fascist regime. Over the last few days, Google has reported an extreme decrease in my daily readers at zero. America has moved from a capitalistic nation to a plutocracy/oligarchy. However, our biggest differences involved what we were taught with words and by example as we grew and became young men. Trump remained in a world of white privilege, while I learned about the real America shared by the majority. I worked hard for everything I have: my education, my home, and my family. Then I realized, that was what I felt yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that. Like their fascist, illegitimate president, our government continues to lie to the American people, mostly by hiding the truth. I read a lot, and I know the truth. When our government attempts to protect Trump and themselves from exposure related to their failure to perform the jobs for which they were elected, they must be subject to close scrutiny and investigations for displays of cowardice, hypocrisy, and corruption. The men and women who call themselves Republicans in the 21 st century understand that the truth is the enemy of autocrats and their efforts to end democracy.
