Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart In eight months, if I live that long, I will be an octogenarian. I grew up reading the Sunday newspaper, mostly the comics section. By the time I was in high school, I read the morning paper daily, primarily the sports section. By my junior year, one of my teachers made it a requirement to read the entire front page and more. In 2025, it is a sad fact that reading a newspaper has become obsolete for most. I don’t watch television news: none of it is entirely accurate or based on the complete truth. I turn on my computer and open numerous websites, searching for the truth about what happened on the previous day or while I was asleep. Over the last 10 years, most mainstream media agencies cover Trump more than anything or anyone else. If you read the news daily, you will quickly realize facts you will never see and hear on television: there is no good news. At least one-half of the storie sare  about Trump and Musk, and how they are f**king up our nation beyond my wildest imagination. They are frightening and terrify this patriot. Between 2017 and 2021, Trump failed to accomplish a single act for the American people. He claimed many successes, but they were not his. They were owned by the Obama Administration, placed in positions which would move our nation forwards. Trump revoked many of those policies, and when he was evicted from the White House on January 20, 2021, our country was facing another Great Depression. The truth pissed Trump off. When I was a young boy, many years ago, I remember hearing the adults around me say: “Why do I bother reading the newspaper? It’s nothing but bad news.” When I was in high school, one of my teachers gave the entire class an assignment requiring us to read the entire first section of the local paper. It was the Los Angeles Times. As I expected, it was mostly bad news. However, what I read today and what is reported on television is far worse than it was in the 1960’s. First and foremost, I believe that most of what I read is filled with lies of omission. I find that the mainstream media is no longer trustworthy. When I fact check their stories, I discover that they seldom contain the complete truth. There is at least one mass shooting every day somewhere in America. Hate crimes have risen by nearly 1,000 percent from where it was in 2015. The greed of corporate America has angered most Americans to a level I once thought unthinkable.
