Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart Benjamin Netanyahu is the reason why there has not been peace in the Middle East for nearly three decades. His policies are the primary reason why there has never been peace in the Middle East. Netanyahu has always believed in the policy of “land grabbing” from his Palestinian neighbors. He has moved to genocide; attempting to remove all Palestinians from Gaza. Meanwhile, one of his greatest admirers, Donald Trump, is engaged in ethnic cleansing in America. Netanyahu has enjoyed his Hitler-esque attacks on the people living in Gaza. His hatred for the Palestinian people has been openly displayed for decades. In recent attacks more than 64,000 men, women and children have been slaughtered. To put this into perspective, the War in Vietnam, from 1955-1975, resulted in the loss of over 59,000 American men and women. Benjamin Netanyahu first came to power in 1996. He is responsible for the “land grabbing” on the West Bank. He is why there have never been honest negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian people. He refuses to meet with Palestinian leaders. It is Netanyahu who is attempting acts of genocide in Gaza. The people of Israel should not be the focus of demonstrations in our colleges and universities. Their anger should be directed solely at Benjamin Netanyahu. Don’t misunderstand my words. I am not defending Hamas. Terrorism is unforgivable and needs to be eradicated, whether it comes from foreign nations, or from inside a nation. In the 21 st century, domestic terrorism is the greatest danger to the American people, according to the FBI. Our nation has a larger number of mass shootings than days on the calendar. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart “All governments are bad, some are worse than others.” I heard this when I was a young man. Over my nearly 78 years I have learned that it was and is completely true. The only thing I didn’t consider was that my government would become the most corrupt and incompetent of them all. My interest in politics began in 1956, when I was 10 years old. I turned on our television when I arrived home from school, and on the TV was Dwight Eisenhower’s second convention. I was fascinated. Now that I am an old man, I look back on the 13 presidents I have watched, listened to, and read about. Only one of the 13 was a great president; JFK: and three are on the list of the worst in history: Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, and at the bottom, Donald Trump. Of the nine remaining, three were admirable for their accomplishments; Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton and Joe Biden; three were somewhat competent and had good intentions; Dwight Eisenhower, George H.W.
