By the time I was in high school, I read the morning paper daily, primarily the sports section. By my junior year, one of my teachers made it a requirement to read the entire front page and more. In 2025, it is a sad fact that reading a newspaper has become obsolete for most. I don’t watch television news: none of it is entirely accurate or based on the complete truth. I turn on my computer and open numerous websites, searching for the truth about what happened on the previous day or while I was asleep. Over the last 10 years, most mainstream media agencies cover Trump more than anything or anyone else. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart I was watching something on television, and the picture moved to what appeared to be one of Trump’s ‘ego-soothing’ cabinet meetings. They have no other purpose because none of them have any idea about what they are doing. I was suddenly reminded of a scene in multiple movies and on the television series, “Succession.” In these films, an elderly billionaire was in poor health, and frequently losing his mental acuity. Family members and close friends were vying for his or her attention while offering unnecessary effusive praise and devotion. Of course, their intent was to receive a large inheritance. I believed that most people had good intentions, and because of that single fact, the things I saw happening around me, which were harmful, dangerous, and unfair would be rectified in my lifetime. Bush and Trump have done to the United States of America is truly unbelievable. A successful movie must include a great script, adapted from a book or from an original screenplay. Fox “Fake” News covered the non-story every day for over one year. I’m lucky that my brain works as well now as it did decades ago. However, I never thought I’d see the day when I became incapable of simple things like walking out to get the mail, taking out the receptacles on trash day, mowing the lawn, being able to drive a car, washing my sheets and remaking my own bed, and cleaning my shower, among many other normal duties. Its funding would not come from the taxpayers. It would be fully funded by contributions from employers and employees. Payments would be based on total contributions until the age of 65. To this day it has never been reported that any individual has lived long enough to receive the total of their contributions. So, it seems that the fund should have a surplus. However, when governments become involved, everyone suffers. After the Social Security Act became law, lawmakers began to embezzle funds which belong solely to the men and women who contributed to the program which was intended to provide retirement funding for all Americans.
