Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart Trump’s invasion of Iran is both illegal and immoral. Most Americans oppose another unwinnable war in the Middle East. Trump made a unilateral decision to attack Iran based on lies and misinformation. The Constitution means nothing to Trump: only Congress can declare war. This war has already claimed the lives of more than 1,000 Iranian civilians—including 200 children—and 13 U.S. service members. This reckless and immoral war, which has driven gasoline prices up roughly a third to an average of $3.98 in the United States, cost $11.3 billion in the first six days alone. As of today, Trump has wasted more than 25 billion dollars of taxpayer money in an attempt to annihilate every Muslim in the nation of Iran. Trump’s release of the names of some of his cabinet choices and other aides is the only glimmer of hope for our nation’s future. Trump knows nothing about being a leader, and his recent choices of men and women who will serve in the White House know even less about what their positions will require. This means that the harm they intend to place upon our nation and its people will surely be of less gravity than it might have been. Trump proved that he is incompetent by choice and by lack of ability for four long years. His actual accomplishments register a huge zero. It is clear that he and his minions will be equally effective between 2025 and 2029. Either way, I hope that I and Trump fail to survive the end of his horrific presidency. After another gaffe at the NATO summit, his team conducted a hasty poll concerning Vice-President Harris’ ability to defeat Trump in November. THE PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS The President began his news conference defending the recent summit with the NATO Alliance. He stated a frightening but irrefutable fact. The only reason there has not been a WWIII is article five of the Alliance. However, Trump said that he would not support article five of the agreement, which guarantees that if one member of the alliance is attacked, we are all under attack.
