His policies were focused on improving the lives of all Americans. He will deservedly be remembered as “the people’s president.” He w as so popular, he won four elections. I sincerely doubt that I would be receiving the money I and my employer paid into throughout my working life today if President Roosevelt had not fought for Social Security.   Positive change for all Americans continued until 1981. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart I will never accept any reason why the Supreme Court agreed to hear the facetious claim that a President of the United States has absolute immunity. The basic premise of the “Law of the Land,” the Constitution, is that in America no one is above the law. Our Founding Fathers’ primary concern when creating a form of government for the New Nation, was preventing a president from becoming a King, Dictator, or other form of a tyrant. Today, July 1, 2024, Trump’s biased and stacked Court refused to state that a president has absolute immunity. However, it did claim that in the performance of his or her duties as president, he or she does have complete immunity for his or her actions. They gave Trump a free pass for ordering Mike Pence to halt the certification of the Electoral College vote on January 6, 2021. This Court is wrong. The Constitution must be their only priority, and the Constitution requires the certification of the results of the Electoral College vote....

As a proud and patriotic American, I cannot accept the fact that a convicted felon, a convicted sexual predator, an admitted fascist based on his promised actions if elected, a man without morals or principles could defile our White House for another four years. However, I am telling you that it may not matter. The most important branch of our government is now the Supreme Court. When Trump, Moscow Mitch McConnell, and the Federalist Society colluded to stack the Court in favor of right-wing extremists, it became our Founding Father’s greatest nightmare. Let’s talk about the fact that our nation’s richest citizens and largest corporations pay little or no taxes thanks to a tax code which is 6,871 pages long. 99 percent of those pages are ways in which the super-rich can avoid paying their fair share. The national debt in 2024 is estimated to be $34.59 trillion dollars. However, Trump and his party of cowards and hypocrites continue to propose additional tax cuts for less than one percent of the American people, who just happen to donate to their campaigns.
