Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart Donald Trump is infamous for his many “firsts.” None of them are worthy of praise. However, on Thursday, May 30, 2024, he had another moment of shame which may become his most devastating crime of all. A jury of his peers, or in this case, “superiors,” found him guilty on all 34 counts after his so-called “hush money trial.” However, and this is not a joke, Trump will still be allowed to run for public office. Only in this f**ked up country! There is no justice in America. THE TRUTH IS, IF THE TRIALS ARE FAIR, HE WILL BE CONVICTED OF EVERY COUNT AND EVERY CHARGE Trump is a lifetime criminal, and with age his crimes become more destructive, and more heinous. In my lifetime alone, I can think of several names which have become infamous. I know you all will think first of Richard Nixon, but there were also three other high-level politicians who were forced to resign. As you might assume, none of them were fairly punished. WHO REMEMBERS SPIRO T. AGNEW? Mr. Nixon’s first Vice-President was the former Mayor of Maryland, Spiro T. Agnew. After a thorough investigation by the FBI, Agnew was forced to resign, less than a year prior to Nixon’s own resignation. He plead guilty to avoid charges of political corruption. He was fined $10,000, and sentenced to three years’ probation. The state of Maryland disbarred him. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart   From the time I could afford to purchase my first automobile, I began to understand why everyone complained about gas prices.   Now, at the mature age of 77, I can tell you why they piss of f just about everyone .   The oil and gas industry began the practice of “Greedflation” about 50 years ago. Whenever they had ac cidents , spills or were forced to make expensive repairs to their aging equipment, they would arbitrarily raise prices at the pump. If you live near a resort area, like me, you notice that the prices are much higher in that area than where you live. I live near Lake Tahoe, and not only is this a fact, the se companies raise prices down here in Reno and up in Lake Tahoe prior to every holiday. He attempted to bribe the President of Ukraine with financial aid, if he would “dig up dirt” on Hunter and Joe Biden. Members of New York’s real estate community had reason to believe that Trump frequently bribed building inspectors, etc., to expedite repairs, and other necessities to make a sale or purchase. “Big Adolf” is at it again. Recently, in a meeting with 20 oil company executives at Mar-a-Lago, he proposed “a deal” with our nation’s leading oil companies. If they would give him one-billion dollars for his reelection campaign, if he wins in November, he would in turn increase oil drilling and reverse pollution rules among other pitches. Does this sound like a violation of campaign finance laws? Maybe I’m just thinking of a violation of morals, integrity, and a display of a person with no self-respect. Kennedy faced the stigma of being a mem ber of the Catholic Church. This single issue made the general election a much closer race than it should have been.   In 1988, after four years of Ronald Reagan’s wars on the working class, minorities, and women, along with a failed fiscal policy which placed our nation deeply in debt, a handsome and popular senator from Colorado was poised to defeat George H . W. Bush and become our nation’s 41 st president.   However, when it was discovered that Gary Hart had a mistress, by the name of Donna Rice, he dropped out of the race.
