Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart In my 78 years, I have witnessed multiple instances when one person figuratively destroyed another with words, but few were close to what I saw on Tuesday, September, 10, 2024 during what was called a “presidential debate.” I watched John Fitzgerald win an election as he debated Richard Nixon. Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton displayed a high level of intelligence and verbal talent when debating George H.W. Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Donald Trump in their contests with superior intelligence and wit. However, I must admit that I was mesmerized by Kamala Harris Tuesday evening. However, today the MSM is in collusion with politicians and fail to report the full truth about any situation related to our federal government. Recently, I read several articles claiming that Harris/Walz did not receive a “bump” in the polls after the Democratic National Convention. If you listened to Ms. Harris’ acceptance speech, you would find this hard to believe. A little research confirms that there was a significant “bump” in the polls favoring the Harris/Walz campaign. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart I used to follow the polls on the important races religiously; primarily “Real Clear Politics.” However, after the 2016 election, when virtually every legitimate poll projected a landslide for Hillary, and you know the rest, Today, I ignore them. The more you read, the more information you possess. However, you also possess a great deal of misinformation. The key is sorting out facts from a plethora of baseless conspiracy theories. Sometimes I discard everything, and read seemingly unrelated articles featuring the statements, remarks, and questions of average Americans. I occasionally find a recurring theme. Everyone of these fake news agencies reported a story about a recent poll claiming that Trump is leading Biden in battleground states by three percentage points. I might remind everyone, the election is one year in the future. I would also remind you that Hillary Clinton was predicted to be victorious until election day 2016. With assistance from the mainstream media, James Comey, and Vladimir Putin, Trump barely won the Electoral College after the voter turnouts in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania were lower than expected.
