America Needs a Great Leader Now: That is Definitely NOT Donald Trump

Image
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart America needs a great leader now more than ever. Although John Fitzgerald Kennedy had his weaknesses, his actions as our nation’s 35 th President were nearly perfect. He displayed a willingness to do the right thing as he faced many challenges, never doing what was easy or politically correct. He was the last great president, and was taken from us far too soon on November 22, 1963. You may think that I have lost my mind, but the man closest to becoming great was a man whose ambitions resulted in criminal actions which made people forget his many accomplishments. His name was Richard Millhouse Nixon. America is facing great danger and possibly extinction in 2025. Ours is a nation in both chaos and crisis, and to deny this fact is to choose ignorance over reality. Throughout my life I have been fascinated by the efforts of professional politicians to place every situation in black or white. Their use of antonyms is never ending. George W. Bush created “the Axis o...

Oh Happy Day, When Freedom Wins

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart Over the last few days, I have felt something I thought I had lost. I have been happy, and I feel what I thought I would never feel again: hope for my country. It reminds me of the Star Wars movies: the force of evil is losing its strength, and the force of good is becoming stronger. Joe Biden is Yoda, and Kamala Harris is Luke Skywalker. The ring has been passed, and the future is clear and filled with hope. No one was excited about the next election, and one change, one person, has brought new interest and an excitement which has been missing since the end of 2016. REPUBLICAN VOTERS ARE IN DENIAL ABOUT PROJECT 2025 AND AGENDA 47 I talked to one of my brothers-in-law yesterday. He watches FOX News and chooses to be brainwashed. I asked him what he thought about Project 2025. He said, “none of that will happen.” I wanted to ask him ‘where were you living between 2017 and 2021,’ but thought better of it. He’s a great guy and I didn’t want to ruin our relationship...

At a Time When We Desperately Need a Great Leader, One Stands Alone, and She’s a Woman

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart   At the ripe old age of 77, I feel lucky to have witnessed a few great leaders in America. In 1956 I watched “Ike’s” second nomination at the Republican National Convention. Although I do not consider Eisenhower a “great president,” he did have some impressive accomplishments, including the interstate highway system. He was a loyal American who loved his country. I was just beginning high school when John Fitzgerald Kennedy was elected as our 35 th president. He was murdered on November 22, 1963 when I was a senior. He was the last great leader in my lifetime. My generation was devastated when he was taken from us too soon. My senior class dedicated a bust of President Kennedy to our Senior Court when we graduated. There were other men and women who were impressive and accomplished great things, including Richard Nixon, the former Governor of Texas, Ann Richards, Senators Ted Kennedy and John McCain, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. This is the primary prob...
