In the 21 st century, all organized religion is in decline. I am one of about 100 million Americans who reject all religions. We are split between agnostics and atheists. A PERSONAL HISTORY At the age of 16, I became another “fallen Catholic.” I had many questions but received no answers. In the beginning of my decision, I was an agnostic. However, now still alive at the ripe old age of 79, I am an atheist. Raised by a single mother and inheriting the responsibility of caring for a younger brother, I became extremely independent. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart Anything Trump or one of his cronies, past, or present, tells the press is a lie. The break-up between Trump and his political concubine, Marjory Taylor Greene is hilarious. However, nothing either of them says has even a morsel of the truth. The following statements from Greene are very funny if you know the facts behind the lies. “I hate my opponent, and I don’t want the best for them,” Trump said. Greene said: “That was absolutely the worst statement. It just shows where his heart is. And that’s the difference, with her having a sincere Christian faith, and proves that he does not have any faith.” It gets even better, but I love the remark about Christianity. In 1981, I found myself increasingly angry that our government was clearly favoring one religion over all others, which is forbidden by the First Amendment. Ronald Reagan is the reason this began to be a problem. In his defense, I believe he was a true believer. When I was a very young man, my grandfather taught me that religion is a personal choice and not to be an issue in any conversation. He was a helluva lot smarter than every right-wing politician in America. He believed in the First Amendment: professional politicians do not. I was raised Catholic and considered entering the priesthood until I learned that Catholic priests are not allowed to marry. I didn’t understand. Other children I knew who were protestant or Jewish told me their ministers and rabbis had normal lives. I liked girls. By the time I was a sophomore in high school, I had begun to move away from all organized religion. However, I cherish the First Amendment which guarantees my right to reject all organized religions, and forbids the influence of religion into our government. The Crusades and the attacks on 9/11 were both the result of religious extremism.   Religion is a personal choice, and it should remain that way. For every argument favoring a single religion over another, there are a dozen reasons why all religions are based on unrealistic and unsupported claims about places like heaven or hell. All religions were created by men whose goals were control and power over others. In modern times, fake religious leaders use religion to live unrealistic lives of great power, luxury and privilege.
