Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart It’s another election year. The most important right guaranteed to all Americans is your right to vote. With that right comes great responsibility. If you vote for a party, casting aside consideration for who might be the best candidate for our nation’s future, you are not a patriotic American. Political parties are the problem, not the solution. They are not concerned with rebuilding our dysfunctional government. They seek power and wealth. Patriot: “a person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors.” Hugging the flag, wearing a hat with a slogan intended to be patriotic but is in fact racist, and constantly suggesting that our country is a disaster, does not make you a patriot. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart I have readers who don’t like what I write. Some of them hate me, although they don’t know me. I am guilty of only one thing: I write the truth. The truth is often difficult to accept, while lies which play on our emotions are eagerly embraced. I admit to mistakes. Sometimes there are errors in my research, and sometimes individuals I considered trustworthy were dishonest and my radar was turned off. However, my articles are never the result of lies or conspiracy theories posted on social media, or from right-wing extremist blogs, podcasts, or television broadcasts. The evil right appeared to be winning on multiple fronts thanks to the media and multiple television propaganda machines. Then came the State of the Union address. Unlike previous Democratic Presidents, Mr. Biden not only stood up for himself, he not so subtly called his predecessor what he is: a liar, a coward, and a fascist who hates his country. The President proved that he is in better shape physically and mentally than his obese, mentally challenged opponent. Let me offer just a few of the moronic things that happened in the last couple of weeks, and tell me if our government can be repaired, and if our country can be saved.. Members of the House, Democrat and Republican, failed to expel George Santos from his position. He is a fraud, a charlatan, a habitual liar who is now hated by the people of New York who elected him. Today he is facing multiple charges of felony fraud. He is a poster boy for today’s fake Republicans. Nothing is real about the once Grand Old Party.
