  Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart For most Americans, all they know about Nikki Haley is that she is a woman and challenged Trump for the Republican Party’s presidential nomination, and failed. Haley was supported by the radical TEA Party in 2010 as she was running for the Governor of South Carolina. She won, and was easily reelected in 2014. Although I was skeptical, knowing that TEA Party candidates have been woefully unqualified. However, Haley was a good governor, placing the people of South Carolina in priority number one. For this writer, she was impressive. Then came Trump. VERY DISAPPOINTED: WHERE HAVE THE REAL REPUBLICANS GONE? Trump chose Haley to be our country’s ambassador to the United Nations. She immediately joined other Republicans as a hypocrite. She constantly praised “Big Adolf,” bowing to his decision to violate the Constitution daily. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart Nebraska held its primary elections on Tuesday. There were no big surprises; Trump and Biden won as expected. However, one result which interested me appears to be a trend for the GOP. Last week, in Indiana, Trump won the majority, but Nikki Haley received 21.7 percent of the vote, although she suspended her campaign weeks ago. Tuesday, with most of the votes counted, Haley had received 18 percent of votes from Nebraska Republicans. She remains in the public eye although she hasn’t made a campaign speech for a long time. It is no longer an assumption: thousands of Republican voters are defecting from Trump’s cult. Is there hope for an end to the boring and destructive appearances by the worst illegitimate president in history? I freaking hope so. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart   One of the headlines today was “Trump wins Nevada caucus.” The truth is, it was never in doubt. Our state’s MAGA Republican Governor, Joe Lombardo rigged the system to guarantee a Trump victory, with all 26 delegates representing Trump at the Republican National Convention in July. This is similar to Putin’s successful effort to secure a victory in the Electoral College in 2016.   So how did he accomplish this fascist effort? The simple answer is the same as all Republican actions designed to win elections: waste money.   On Tuesday, February 6, our state held the Republican primary. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart     Although there has been one caucus in an inconsequential state, and one primary in an equally unimportant state, leaders in the former Republican Party have decided that Trump will be their only nominee in 2024. This may be the saddest statement in our nation’s 247-year history. Democracy is disappearing as those who call themselves Republicans continue to abandon the principles, morals, and standards of the once Grand Old Party.   Politicians on the right side of the aisle are desperate. Without Trump fascist cult, they have no change in winning seats anywhere in the 2024 election.
