Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart   Republican’s fascist, anti-women policies are the reasons they suffered huge losses in Tuesday’s elections. Right-wing politicians oppose every issue favored by most of our nation’s people. June 24, 2022 was one of the darkest days in American history. On this day six Republican-appointed justices overturned a 49-year-old decision by a legitimate Supreme Court known as Roe v Wade. This was a brazen attack on all women, removing protections for their decisions regarding unwanted pregnancies, or pregnancies resulting from rape or incest. These five men and one female religious extremist decided that women were third-class citizens without the right to decide the fate of their personal mental and physical health. The next day I predicted Republican losses in future elections. On June 24, 2022, a Republican dominated Supreme Court ended a woman’s right to make decisions about her own mental and physical health by overturning Roe v Wade. Actions were taken by legislatures in red states immediately. They passed multiple unrealistic, anti-abortion, and sexist laws, extending and escalating their war on women in the United States. Since that dark day in American history, nearly 16 months ago, there have been many stories about how this egregious and unconstitutional decision by a biased Court has harmed multiple women in our nation. However, what happened in Texas to one woman is a tale of cruelty, hatred, and ignorance by a right-wing dominated state government, led by Governor Greg Abbott.   Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart   Let me begin with the end. Religious extremists are the reason for the issue of abortion becoming political. They are clearly more concerned about a one-inch fetus than the life of a full-grown woman. Placing that fact aside, let’s take a short look at reality. The human brain begins to develop in the uterus within the sixth or seventh week. However, it is not fully developed until the end of the second trimester. Why is this important? Christian extremists claim that life begins at conception, and seek to ban all abortions, regardless of how the pregnancy originated. Pro-lifers are also involved in the termination of life for those who are terminally ill and the prognosis of regaining normal life is minimal at best. Their argument is founded on the fact that the patient’s brain remains “alive,” not alive as we might consider it, but alive according to science. Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart   Something happened recently that may mean nothing to you, but in reality, it defines the direction our government is taking, and therefore this country is moving down the wrong path. 100 percent of the men and women sitting on the right side of the Capitol Building support the end of democracy and the establishment of a fascist regime in Washington. While it is true that Trump, Pence, DeSantis, Greene, Boebert, Jordan, Gaetz and many others are open about their efforts, others are hiding in the shadows.
