I learned from both my accomplishments and my mistakes. I recognized how the little changes in my life made a big difference and why I am the man I am today. My life has been filled with good times and bad. I did my best, but that was not always good enough. I never gave up, and as I enter the last chapter of my life on earth, I am satisfied that I did the best I could. I learned that no one is perfect. Trump and I may be the same age, chronologically, but he and I are extremely different, and only one of us has accomplished anything of value in his life. Nearing the age of 80, I hope and believe that I have learned many things about myself and the world in which I live. I cannot hide my physical disabilities. However, I believe that my mind is intact, and although I am nearing the definition of “octogenarian,” my memory of the last eight decades is clear. I am who I am because I followed the rules. I worked hard to care for myself and my family, and although I had my share of failures, I always tried to do the right thing. I am what it means to be an average American. His most recent action makes no effort to hide the fact that your illegitimate president considers anyone who is not white inferior to himself and his fascist party. There is one unspoken reason why it made no sense to allow the least qualified man in history to wear a title he never wanted: President of the United States of America. I was a ‘latch key kid’ in the 1950’s. My brother and I were never in danger because our apartment was very close to our school. Next door to our small apartment building was an old house, followed by the convent, the rectory, the Church and the school. The first television we had was 9 inches wide and 9 inches tall. Of course the picture was in black and white. Television was our family’s major source of entertainment. If I was home, the television was on, even as I did my homework. The greatest president in American history was without a doubt, Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Rightfully known as “the People’s President, his policies were always focused on all Americans and protected the working class from greedy men who sought to control their workers by underpaying them for their efforts, requiring tortuously long hours and working conditions, and children were not exempt. On August 14, 1935, FDR signed the only perfect bill in our nation’s history. It was designed to guarantee a retirement fund for all Americans. It is known today as Social Security.
