The 25 Years That Altered My Life and My Beliefs: May America R.I.P.
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart I had always been a mostly positive person. I believed that most people had good intentions, and because of that single fact, the things I saw happening around me, which were harmful, dangerous, and unfair would be rectified in my lifetime. However, 25 years ago, I began to doubt my own beliefs. I was always aware that the government of the United States was composed of mostly inferior and incompetent men and women. However, I continued to believe that the system of checks and balances created by our Founding Fathers would guarantee that our government would always be relatively successful in the performance of their jobs: to serve the American people. But after the 2000 election and the debacle occurring in Florida by a totally incompetent election committee, the Supreme Court exceeded its authority and decided to award George W.
