I Am a True American. I Am Woke, Liberal, and Cherish my First Amendment Rights: Why Doesn’t Your President Believe in America?
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart I am a fortunate American. Born in 1946, I experienced post-war America. Only a very small number of my readers share what I felt, saw, and heard as I was growing up in the 1950s. I remember first grade. When all of the students had taken their seats, Sister Mary told us to stand, face the American flag in the corner of the room, place our right hands over our hearts, and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. This may be a bit “trite,” but it was not uncommon to feel a few tears in my eyes. I believed in the words.
