Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart This week has been interesting. Two very old men, one 77, and one who will be 80 in just six weeks, met for tea in our White House. The biggest differences between them are that one man is a King, and the other is supposed to be a public servant. One has no real power, and is loved by most of his people. The other is power-mad, and despised by three-quarters of the people he was elected to serve. One man’s speech was articulate, and humorous at times, while the other man rambled on about nothing and no one could understand his gibberish. King Charles rose to his position when his mother, Queen Elizabeth, passed away. He was first in line to receive the crown. He made no promises, and simply accepted the honor that was his by birthright. Trump won a second controversial election with the assistance of Vladimir Putin and the United States Supreme Court. I am not certain that this is the fifth article I have written about why I am proud to be a liberal, or the fourth or the sixth. I only know that on occasion I find it necessary to explain how I learned right from wrong, and how I became aware that the past is only good for one thing: it is a place where the most important things I learned were from my mistakes, and the mistakes of my government.   As an original “baby boomer,” born in July of 1946, I began my life in an atmosphere of patriotism, and rebirth. The war to defeat fascism had been won, and America was changing quickly, attempting to leave the horrors of war behind us and move our nation forward with changes which no one could have imagined just a few years ago.
