Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart My wife and I have been watching Ken Burns’ latest documentary, The American Revolution. It is far more informative than what we learned in history books. Of course it was about unfair taxation and religious persecution, among other issues, but the primary reason was an adamant rejection of any form of autocratic rule: no dictator, no authoritarian, no monarch. The people demanded a system of self-rule. These wishes became the basis for the creation of the Constitution of the United States of America in 1789. However, your illegitimate president in 2025, who is defiling and destroying our White House, has become a dictator and hated by all true and patriotic Americans. He is not an American President. As the new nation became a reality and shocked the world by defeating the British Empire in September of 1783, America became a beacon of light for all people living on the third planet from the sun. Between 1787 and 1789, a new country emerged and became the United States of America. It was founded by men who were imperfect, but shared lofty principles and ideals based on personal freedom, human rights, and equality without regard to wealth, ethnicity, religion, or departure from common beliefs. Free thought and the freedom to separate from the majority and embrace lifestyles which were often considered unusual, different, and even abnormal offered a future when diversity became the new nation’s strength, not a threat to the status quo, but acceptance and respect for our differences dominated.
