In the private sector he remained relevant, but only because he had help from Russian oligarchs and the Saudi Royal Family. Of course it was about unfair taxation and religious persecution, among other issues, but the primary reason was an adamant rejection of any form of autocratic rule: no dictator, no authoritarian, no monarch.
