Moscow Mitch; the Final Cog in the Wheel Which Proves that the GOP is Over Forever
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
There is no longer a “Republican Party.” Those who call
themselves “Republicans” today are without leadership, morals, or principles. Speaker
McCarthy is a joke. He is loyal to Trump, not to his country, and is a huge
embarrassment to the title of Speaker of the House. The “old man of the Senate,
Moscow Mitch McConnell, has never accomplished anything for his country. His
goal has always been “party first” throughout his seven, six-year terms in office.
He literally “ramrodded” his agenda through the Senate, including the
appointment of the last three biased and unfit Supreme Court Justices. In
collusion with the Federalist Society, six Republican-biased justices struck
down a 49-year-old decision by a legitimate Supreme Court guaranteeing a woman’s
right to make decisions about her personal physical and mental health related
to the termination of an unwanted pregnancy. This was one of the darkest days
in our nation’s 247 years, June 24, 2022. If the Court is corrupt too, who will
save America?
Recently Moscow Mitch was seen falling, and unable to
complete sentences at a news conference. Apparently, the voters of Kentucky
have noticed his growing mental instability.
First, I must admit that the crowd in attendance at the
Fancy Farm Picnic was ignorant and supported Trump. Although Trump’s ludicrous
endorsements lost the Senate in 2022, these morons blamed Moscow Mitch. There were
also chants of “retire.” He was booed constantly. Of course, I would always boo
a man who prevented a fair trial for Trump after he was impeached twice.
Moscow Mitch responded: “This is my 28th Fancy Farm, and I
want to assure you it’s not my last,” McConnell told the crowd Saturday
morning, it reported. “The people of this state have chosen me seven times to
do this job, and I want you to know how grateful I am.”
I want you to notice one critical fact: the voters of
Kentucky continued to reelect the old man of the senate although he was far too
old to be an effective leader. He amassed immeasurable power and forbade his
party from deliberating honestly with Democrats, and finding compromise in
service to the American people.
What happened in Kentucky this last weekend proves that the
once Grand Old Party is extinct. It lost its way under the last four “Republican”
presidents, Reagan, Bush 41, Bush 43, and Trump. Under Trump’s fascist
policies, the final nails were put in the coffin.
The old adage, “a house divided cannot stand,” applies both
to today’s “Republican Party,” and to our nation. If we continue to allow
right-wing politicians and Fox News to divide our people, the end of the dream
is inevitable. It is an unpunished crime when politicians in Washington
purposely divide our nation for the sole purpose of winning elections. This is
anti-American and despicable. I am ashamed of our government, and cannot
honestly support any professional politician.
Moscow Mitch is the “poster boy” for term limits. It is
logical that if our presidents are limited in the number of years they are
allowed to serve, the legislative and judicial branches should have similar
restrictions placed on them. It is a shame, not an honor to serve unlimited
years in the House or Senate, and a travesty that Supreme Court justices are
appointed for life. This was a serious mistake made by our Founding Fathers,
and must be corrected.
The first general election in which I could vote was 1968. I
was 22 years old. It was hard for me. I was a senior when President John F.
Kennedy was assassinated. My only choice for the presidency became Richard
Nixon. Regardless of what happened years later, I know that my decision was a good
one. The list of achievements credited to Nixon remain lengthy and impressive,
and include the establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency, giving
18-year-olds the right to vote, and the first nuclear arms treaty with the
Soviet Union. It is a sad fact that the events of Watergate destroyed memories
of a true Republican who actually loved his country.
Moscow Mitch and his party have yet to prove that they love
their country and serve all Americans. Their actions speak for themselves.
First come their personal ambitions, and second their wealthy owners.
Face it, our current government is about as bad as it can
get. This is no exaggeration. Moscow Mitch has been the impetus for corruption
and incompetence for 40+ years. We must never forget his hypocrisy in 2016 when
he was a member of the “anyone but Trump” club. Over the next four years he
supported every action by a man who violated the Constitution on a daily basis,
was impeached twice, and gave Trump a free pass, placing him above the Law of
the Land.
