Proud Boy Chairman Enrique Tarrio Gets 22 Years For
Orchestrating The January 6th Insurrection. What does this mean for Trump? If
the allegation that he organized and executed the failed coup, his sentence
could be much longer, and by observation of his physical and mental decline,
this would mean life in prison.
I am sick and tired of anyone referring to the darkest day
in America’s history as a “protest.” My wife and I watched all three hours of an
American tragedy, and this was nothing less than an attempted coup: the end of
American democracy. I don’t give a damn if you support those on the right side
of the aisle or the left, it was an insurrection, organized, planned, and
executed by America’s 45th president.
No punishment is too serious. This is the only thing I never
imagined in my lifetime. In my 77 years I have met a number of individuals who
are not entirely loyal to their country. A nation as diverse as ours is
required to entertain thousands of points of view and enormous criticism.
However, for anyone to take action which is intended to directly overthrow our
nation’s government is clearly treason.
What I fail to understand is why section three of the 14th
Amendment has not been invoked. This prevents Trump from running for any
political office.
"No person shall be a Senator or Representative in
Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil
or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having
previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the
United States, or as a member of any
State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to
support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in
insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the
enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove
such disability."
Explain to me how anyone could interpret this part of the 14th
Amendment in any other way. It simply says that a traitor to our nation cannot
become a part of our government, and nothing more or less.
On January 6, 2021, Trump’s “army” was composed of members
of various Neo-Nazi organizations, and individuals who support the white
nationalism movement. This revolutionary army also included current and former
members of law enforcement and the military.
Our nation’s division has been and irrefutable fact for the
last eight years. However, the January 6th revolt against our nation’s
democracy exposed the depth of this division.
My concern is that there is no possibility of fully uniting
our nation within the 21st century. Various media groups, radio
broadcasts, and politicians have intentionally created this situation and
preyed upon an uninformed electorate, many of whom have chosen ignorance over
fact.
This one incident on a single day could have ended the
United States forever, and it’s not over yet. Trump is not an American, and if
for some seemingly impossible reason he won the 2024 election, it would be only
a matter of days until he and his party removed our democratic government and
put in its place a fascist regime with Trump as our country’s first dictator.
Save your country and save yourselves. If our incompetent
government refuses to do the right thing, we must.
