What the Hell is Happening in America?

Let’s look back at the time period in America from June of 2015 and today, October, 2023. I find it both frightening and unbelievable. This is not my country. It is definitely not the nation created by our Founding Fathers.

Between June of 2015 and today, our system of government has failed. Political parties have become more important than a nation of 330 million people. Doing the right thing is seldom a reality. Over the last eight years, real Americans cringed as we witnessed the illegitimate election of a president who is a fascist, an old and bigoted Senator achieve his lifelong and destructive dream, the end of the Supreme Court, and soon the probable selection of the worst, least qualified Speaker of the House in history.

These are all major crimes committed by ambitious men who are unfit for any position in the three branches of government.

In June of 2015, Donald John Trump and his trophy wife, Melania, rode down escalators inside Trump Tower. He moved to a microphone array and announced his intention to win the Republican Party’s nomination for president in 2016. This first speech proved that he was unfit for employment in any area. We soon learned that he was a career criminal and a failed businessman. He continued to remain in business thanks to financial input from Russian oligarchs and the Saudi Royal Family. During the following months he admitted that he was a sexual predator, a philanderer, a sexist, a homophobe, the leader of America’s white supremacist movement, a malignant narcissist, and a man without principles or morals. On November 8, 2016 with, assistance from Vladimir Putin, James Comey, and the mainstream media, Trump was gifted the presidency by the Electoral College, although he lost the popular vote by more than three million ballots. He was not the people’s choice.

In collusion with the Federalist Society, Moscow Mitch McConnell selected three totally unqualified and biased nominees for the Supreme Court. Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett promised to overturn a 49-year-old decision by a legitimate Court known as Roe v Wade. This was their only qualification for receiving a position on our nation’s highest Court.

On June 24, 2022, all six “Republican” justices removed a woman’s right to make decisions about her personal mental and physical health related to the termination of an unwanted pregnancy. Although the Court was intended to be apolitical, that ship sailed decades in the past.

The most ridiculous part of this story concerns the House of Representatives. Pretend Republicans have a narrow margin of control, and therefore the Speaker was a member of the party on the right. I say “was” because two weeks ago his own party removed Kevin McCarthy from the podium. Infighting has prevented swearing in a new Speaker. Currently, Jim Jordan, an alleged criminal, a staunch Trump lackey, and a contributor to the January 6, 2021 insurrection, is their latest nominee. The problem is, he does not have the 217 votes needed for confirmation. The Constitution prevents any business from being conducted without a Speaker. I’m not sure this makes any difference. Right wing politicians are known as “the party of no” for a reason. They have not accomplished anything of importance since 2009.

I don’t recognize America in the 21^st century. We have become the butt of jokes all over the world because of our dysfunctional government, and we deserve everything bad that comes to us. Ignorant voters selected the buffoons wasting our time and money in Washington today.
