My Personal Nomination for the Five Worst Presidents in History
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
In just 12 days our government will celebrate “Presidents
Day.” I repeat my claim that this is the worst conceived holiday in our
nation’s history. Our nation has been led by 45 men, one of them twice, and
less than one quarter of them are worthy of our praise.
Long ago, when I was young, we celebrated two great
presidents in the month of February. On the 12th, our nation honored
the birthday of the Great Emancipator, Abraham Lincoln. On the 22nd
we celebrated the birthday of the man who led us to victory in the
Revolutionary War, and became our first President, George Washington. However,
another moronic decision changed this situation and we are forced to pay
tribute to some of the worst white men in our country.
That said, I offer you the worst of the worst, the bottom
five men who were chosen to serve our nation’s people and failed miserably.
In fifth place is our 28th President, Woodrow
Wilson. I choose him as our fifth worst president for a single but critical
reason. Wilson was a white supremacist. His belief in segregation demonstrates
the fact that he refused to represent all Americans. This is the only job a
president has. Serving your country means serving our nation’s people, all of
them. I probably could have selected others for the same reason, but he came to
mind as I began thinking about writing this article.
In fourth position is our 7th President, Andrew
Jackson. It is a disgrace to all native Americans that Jackson’s picture has
remained on our most frequently used currency, the 20-dollar bill, for decades.
This will change in 2030 when Harriet Tubman’s image will replace the man I
believe was the 4th worst president in history. Jackson not only
celebrated slavery, he was guilty of an attempt to ethnically cleanse or nation
of all native Americans. Jackson was also a tyrant, refusing to listen to
anyone but himself, and ignoring the needs of the American people. For decades
historians placed him in the first position as our worst president.
My choice for third place will literally “piss off” every
man and woman on the right side of the aisle. This makes me happy because
today’s fake Republican hate the truth more than anything. This is why they
screamed and yelled at a television network which planned to air a documentary
about the real Ronald Reagan. Sadly, the network capitulated to these posers.
As a citizen of California in 1980, and an Independent
voter, I cast my ballot for Reagan. However, just months into his first term I
realized that I had been conned. His disdain for the working class, lack of
respect for women, rejection of the LGBTQ community, and open support of
Christianity over all other religions were obvious and an insult to a large
percentage of our nation’s people. He is why those who call themselves
“Republicans” today continue their wars on the working class, minorities,
women, and all non-heterosexuals. His support of Christianity was not only
unconstitutional, it led to the existence of the Christian Religious Right, one
of the greatest dangers to our nation’s future.
In second place is a man who should surprise no one, George
W. Bush. Just months after his inauguration he decided to take a vacation. On
September 11, 2001, there was an attack on our nation. He and Vice-President
Cheney ignored the warnings from leaders of our top security agencies and left
Washington just prior to 9/11.
Bush’s fiscal policies were disastrous. Adding to this
situation were the monetary costs and the loss of lives after placing our
nation in two illegal and unwinnable wars. He lied to the American people,
using those lies as an excuse to invade the sovereign nation of Iraq. His real
intention was to avenge his father. “W” was the least qualified president in
history until my first choice for the worst president in history was
illegitimately elected by the Electoral College in 2016.
There will never be a worse president than Donald John
Trump. Our nation suffered under his rule for four, very long years. In less
than three months Trump became not only the most hated man in America, he was
equally hated by people around the world. After his illegitimate election a “women
against Trump protest” was organized in Washington and many cities across the
nation. Other marches occurred in every city he visited around the world with
the exception of in Saudi Arabia because they were forbidden by the Royal
Family.
Trump violated the Constitution every day he was in office.
This is why he was the first president to be impeached twice. It is a very sad
fact that Moscow Mitch McConnell refused to conduct a fair trial in the Senate
on either occasion. It is this fact that created the horrific situation our
nation is in today. Our nation’s problem are likely irreparable, and Moscow
Mitch must accept the fact that the blame lies squarely on his shoulders.
Trump’s fiscal policy was a failure, but this did not
prevent him from taking credit for the plans put into place by President Obama.
When he failed to take action after he was informed about a soon to come health
emergency, Covid-19, he nearly placed our country in another depression. His
policy of “it will just go away” was not effective. His failure to act
presidential is why more than 1,000,000 Americans lost their lives from the
pandemic.
The plan to divide our nation, which began in Moscow in
2013, was successful and continues to threaten the very existence of our
nation’s future.
After he lost his reelection bid in 2020 by a huge margin,
he refused to accept reality, voiding a 246-year-old tradition of “peaceful
transition of power.” When his lies were rejected by 60 state courts and the
Supreme Court of the United States, he continued to remain in a state of
denial. While still a sitting president, Trump planned, organized, and executed
an attempt to overthrow our government on January 6, 2021. After he was evicted
from the White House, the FBI discovered classified documents inside his
residence at Mar-a-Lago after he lied about possessing them.
Donald Trump is a traitor, not an American. He must be
remembered accurately by historians.
You may not agree with my selections, but the truth is
undeniable. Join me and refuse to celebrate “Presidents Day.”
