Stop Shoving Your Religion in My Face
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
If you love your religion, and are serious about its
teachings, I am not only happy for you, I would fight for your right to practice
that religion. However, I cherish the First Amendment which guarantees my right
to reject all organized religions, and forbids the influence of religion into
our government. It is clearly written, and I demand that my rights are of equal
importance to those who claim to be religious.
America never was a religious nation, and never should be.
Our Founding Fathers left England when King George III removed freedom of or
from religion. This is why the first line in the Bill of Rights says, “Congress
shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the
free exercise thereof…”
RIGHT WING POLITICIANS, DESPERATE FOR VOTES, SEEK THE REPEAL
OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT
There is no doubt that the party on the right side of the
aisle is owned by special interests. Their votes are bought and paid for by lobbies,
with the use of agents called lobbyists.
One of these lobbies is irrefutably unconstitutional. They
call themselves “the Religious Right,” but are more accurately known and “the Christian
Religious Right.”
The CRR is primarily composed of Evangelical leaders. They
have made their life’s purpose the establishment of Christianity as the one,
true religion of the United States of America.
This is why they support Trump. I could excuse them for naivete
in 2016, but they are now fully aware that Trump is not religious, and has no
interest in any religion; his only gods are money and power. More importantly, he
is a self-admitted sinner. He told us that he is a sexual predator, committed adultery
many times, and recently he was pronounced guilty for the commission of 34
felonies. If you believe the stories about Jeffrey Epstein’s, at least once
Trump forced himself upon a 12-year-old girl.
If this were acceptable for any religious organization, I
would never want that religion to gain influence in my government, definitely
not in my life.
SOME INTERESTING STATISTICS ABOUT THE REAL AMERICA
Christian leaders would like you to believe that America
remains a “Christian nation.” This is far from the truth. Facts reveal that
Christianity continues to experience a decline in membership. Christian leaders
are very concerned about the reduction of money received in collection plates.
They have learned to love their lives of luxury and privilege without paying
one dollar in taxes.
The truth is that I am a member of the fastest growing group
related to religion in America.
In 2002-2003 a survey revealed that nine percent of all
Americans rejected all organized religion. In 2024, that number has risen to about
30 percent. That means that about 99,000,000 of approximately 330 million
Americans do not want influence from any religion in their lives.
Another statistic which will frighten bigots and xenophobes,
it is estimated that by 2040 the religion of Islam will be one of the three
major religions in the United States.
ANOTHER GROUP SUPPORTING RIGHT-WING POLITICIANS IS FADING
The previous facts scare the “living bejesus” out of
right-wing politicians. As their base continues to decline, they are aware that
they must preserve what they have for as long as possible. They are willing to
lie, and do anything to win elections, and that includes supporting the least
qualified man who has no morals, no principles, and a man who is loyal to
Vladimir Putin, not to the people of the United States. His name is Donald John
Trump.
Here's the final truth which causes fear in the space where
their hearts should be for every fake Republican candidate.
Polls reveal that the number of voters claiming to be Democrats
or Republicans is virtually tied. Independent voters, most of whom are more
progressive and fewer regressive, will decide the outcome of every election in
the future.
This pleases me. The existence of the Electoral College is
why there are red and blue states. When the people are allowed to choose our
president, Democrats will become almost impossible to defeat.
Fact; only once between 1992 and today has a Republican won
the popular vote in a general election. In 2004, George W. Bush, running for
reelection, narrowly won the popular vote over John Kerry.
Ignore political parties because it is ignorant to vote for
any candidate for one reason; party affiliation. Intelligent voters cast their
votes for the candidates whose policies on the important issues are closest to
their own.
