If You Can’t Trust the Supreme Court, Who Can You Trust?

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

In 2023 the Supreme Court of the United States of America is composed of six justices who are on the extreme right of our political system. Their sole purpose is to overturn advancements made in our nation’s social system over the last 70 years.

Intelligent and clear-thinking Americans were shocked on June 24, 2022, when these prejudiced five men and one woman overturned a 49-year-old decision by a legitimate Court and returned all American women to third-class citizens. They celebrated after creating one of the darkest days in American history as they removed the Constitutional right of women to make personal decisions about the future of their own mental and physical health.

In March of 1961 President John F. Kennedy extended affirmative action to include creating racial equality within our colleges and universities. This week the same six “bad actors” ended affirmative action in America once and for all.

What’s the next fascist act by these biased pretenders: the right for women to vote? The right to love someone if they are of the same sex? Or the re-establishment of a poll tax to prevent minorities from voting? They have no morals and no interest in the intentions of our Founding Fathers.

As a political junkie, for decades the Supreme Court was the only branch of our government I could trust. In the 21st century they joined their fascist brothers in the House and Senate and are obviously attempting to overthrow democracy and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution. The names Roberts, Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett will be remembered by historians as traitors to the principles and morals of American life, and the most corrupt justices in American history.

At the close of the Constitutional Convention in 1789, our founding fathers made many mistakes. None of these mistakes was more destructive than choosing not to set term limits for all elected officials and the Supreme Court.

I have been interested in politics for the last 67 years. The pages of history will align with my views. Holding office for lengthy periods of time is ignorant and a danger to our nation’s future. “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The longer men and women remain in office the less effective they become. A personal desire for money, power, and fame is too tempting for the majority. This is why our nation’s government is the most corrupt in the world.

We have witnessed the foolishness of giving lifetime appointments to justices on the Supreme Court. Five of the current members of the Republican Party who sit on the Court are unfit, unworthy, extremely biased, and should never have been confirmed. Sadly, they will be allowed to remain on the bench for as long as they wish.

The power to control the future of 333 million men, women, and children lies in the hands of only 545 men and women: 435 members of the House, 100 senators, nine Supreme Court Justices, and one president. We, the people, must have the right to remove anyone who fails to serve our needs and wishes. We are the Country: they are nothing more than public servants.
