Once a Respected Nation, Today’s America is Filled with Anger, Hatred and Violence

Raised by a single mother in the 1950s and 60s, I was
fortunate to have been very close and partially raised by my maternal
grandparents. They were grandchildren of a Prussian grandfather, who came to
this country at the beginning of the 20th century, and the
grandmother he met in America. Of the many things I learned from them, compassion,
kindness, and understanding were the most important and remained with me
throughout my life.
What they couldn’t teach me were the underlying evils which
existed then, and have become the norm in the 21st century. These
evils moved out of the shadows and escalated between 2017 and 2021 when an
illegitimate president won the Electoral College, and became to leader of the
Neo-Nazi movement in America. He and his party, once known as Republicans,
combined with the mainstream media, continue to spread lies with the use of
tactics including anger, hatred, and violence.
At this very moment, somewhere in our nation a “newsperson”
is interviewing one of our nation’s enemies who would destroy the America of
our Founding Fathers. The 46 members of the “Freedom Caucus” constantly express
their intentions to destroy my America. Men and women including Donald Trump,
Ron DeSantis, Kevin McCarthy, Mike Johnson, Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Greene,
Jim Jordan, Steve Scalise, Lauren Boebert, and others openly express their
goals which would end my America. They are anti-Americans who would shred the
Constitution, and install a fascist regime with Trump as its first and last
dictator.
You may ask; ‘why would these traitors to America be allowed
to voice their evil intentions and beliefs on local and national television?’ Good
question, with a single answer. In America it’s always “follow the money.”
Fox News was created by billionaire, Rupert Murdoch, and
right-wing political strategist, Roger Ailes, in 1996. It had no interest in broadcasting
“real news.” Murdoch’s goal was to make money, and the primary way news
broadcasts make money is by increasing advertising revenue. Viewers tune into
networks hoping to see and hear sensational and unbelievable stories, and on
Fox, that’s what they get. The truth and facts are of no importance. Lies,
half-truths, and conspiracy theories are not only encouraged, but required.
I mention Fox because they are not only complicit with MAGA Republicans,
they are at the core of why our nation is divided and engaged in a second, mostly
bloodless Civil War. Do not ignore the truth: you are on one side or the other.
On one side are Americans who love their country and treasure the Constitution.
On the other are men and women who support Trump’s ambition to become an
autocratic leader who will create a fascist state, similar to 1930’s Germany.
You are not a true American if you judge others by the color
of their skin, their religion, ethnicity, financial situation, sex, or sexual
orientation. If you do not accept the First Amendment, the guarantees of our
freedom and human rights, considered the most important words ever written by
our nation’s first leaders, you are the enemy of all that remains of the United
States of America. If you believe that anger, hatred, and violence are
acceptable, you should pack up your suitcase and find a country more aligned
with your beliefs.
You have a choice to make, and there are no gray areas. This
war is between us and them and the winner will either save our nation or watch
it devolve into a fascist state where no one is considered of value unless they
are white, wealthy, and claim to be Christian.
