Spiro Agnew and Nixon were not Immune, and Trump is Guilty of the Highest Crime in the Nation: Treason

MAGA Republicans and Fox News continue their efforts to misdirect the truth about January 6, 2021. However, those of us who watched all three hours of the darkest day in American history can testify to the truth. It is an undeniable fact that a sitting president stepped out of the White House and spoke to “his people,” who he had personally organized and instructed to come to Washington on that day, telling them to stop the most democratic action required by the Constitution, the same document Trump swore to “preserve, protect, and defend,” the certification of the Electoral College vote. This was clearly a commission of the highest crime against our nation: treason.

Why is Trump a free man today, and how can he possibly be allowed to run for any political office? The 14th Amendment clearly states that anyone who commits an act of insurrection cannot be allowed to run for public office.

Trump’s incompetent attorneys are claiming that he had immunity because he remained in office at the time of the violent assault. One vice-president and one former president were not granted immunity for their crimes while holding office: Spiro Agnew, and Richard Nixon. Nixon was pardoned by his successor, Gerald Ford, an action which was never accepted or forgiven by the American people.

Although the Department of Justice promises us that “no one is above the law,” this is a lie. Trump has committed two heinous crimes: treason and the theft of national secrets, documents he planned to use for personal gain. It is a travesty that this old, obese, white man continues to spit on the Law of the Land, while dividing our nation creating the second Civil War.

I admit to being an angry old man, but I am justified for my emotions. At 77 years of age, I have experienced many efforts to move our nation forward and achieve the completion of our Founding Father’s dreams and intentions. However, between 2015 and the present, I could do nothing as our government chose a different path. One entire political party supported a man who is clearly a fascist who hates the United States of America; a man who moved our nation backwards between 2017 and 2021, undoing the efforts of many of his predecessors, both Democrats and Republicans.

I try not to hate. Negative emotions are destructive to anyone who harbors them. However, Donald Trump is intentionally attempting to destroy the very core of our country’s existence. I have been a proud and independent American for my entire life. Trying to end the principles and virtues which made America the most respected nation in the world really pisses me off. In 2016 I learned that Trump was the worst and most unqualified man in America to have any influence in our political system. By the end of his term in 2021, I knew he was and is the worst man in the world. His interests are completely focused on his own future and financial gain. He cares nothing about his country or any of its citizens.

If Trump is not incarcerated in a federal prison for the remainder of his pitiful life, the Constitution will become null and void. The Law of the Land will have no meaning. The Supreme Court would be useless, even more useless than it is today.

I am glad that the years ahead of me are few. I fear for the end of what could have become the greatest country in the world.
