You Voted For Them: You are to Blame
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Jim Jordan, and all the others: If
you are complaining about our government and your life in general, and voted
for these men or any other “MAGA Republican,” I do not feel sorry for you
because you got what you voted for.
In 2016 my state of Nevada became a “blue state.” We had a
Republican Governor, but Brian Sandoval was the best of all since I moved here
in 1986. However, in 2022, Nevada’s voters chose to elect an avid Trump
supporter, and a totally unqualified former Clark County Sheriff, Joe Lombardo,
to lead our state. The complaints about him are many, refusing to care for the
needs of the majority and supporting big business at the top of the list. Once
again, you deserve what happens to you if you voted for any Republican in the
21st century.
If you continue to support the three aforementioned men, who
have never accomplished anything in their lives, you deserve what you get,
including the possible end of our nation.
Years ago I learned that the American voter is generally the
most ignorant and ill-informed in the world. Since that day this unforgivable
situation has escalated and is the sole reason why our country has the most
corrupt and incompetent federal government in the world.
It is a fact that states controlled by Republicans, known as
“red states,” are the poorest in the nation and have the greatest number of
Americans suffering from physical and mental illness. In 2023 the greatest
number of men, women, and children surviving below the poverty line are
Mississippi, Louisiana, and West Virginia. States with the highest level of
income per capita are Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. The most
successful area in America related to income is not a state, it is Washington
D.C., which is heavily Democratic.
Between 1981 and 1993, and eight years from 2001 until 2009,
and again between 2017 and 2021, four Republican presidents proved that the
once Grand Old Party is incapable of governing our nation. Their fiscal
policies were disastrous. The same is true for Republican governors and
legislatures in red states. The facts prove that voters in red states are
unaware of how much better their lives could be if they rejected today’s
Republicans in name only. You may not believe this, but the last Republican
whose policies were successful and improved the lives of all Americans was
Richard Nixon. He may have been a “crook,” but he was one of the best
presidents in the 20th century. If you don’t believe me, download
his long list of accomplishments.
Every qualified American should vote in every election.
However, voting wisely is mandatory. Voting for someone based on their
political affiliation is not simply ignorant, it is moronic.
