If You are a Legitimate Christian, You Must Denounce the Hypocrisy in Your Midst

If you claim to be a Christian, and continue to support Donald Trump, you are a liar and a hypocrite. I was raised a Catholic, but I am a member of the largest group of Americans today, known as “Nones.” I reject organized religion and all the lies and propaganda from Evangelical leaders.  

It is an undeniable fact that Trump is a sexual predator, a lifelong criminal, a misogynist, a homophobe, and a constant prevaricator. The pastor of the Christian church he claims to belong to revealed that “he has never seen him cross the threshold of that church.” 

This has not stopped MAGA Republicans from claiming that “America has always been a Christian country.” I am required to inform these malcontents that history proves them wrong. 

At the core of why our Founding Fathers created the United States of America is “freedom of religion.” That’s why the first line of the First Amendment reads, “.Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. ”What these fake Republicans fail to tell you is that this also included “freedom from religion.” Worshipping “God,” or “a god,” is not required to be an American citizen. Freedom is the key word you will hear from most Americans. Freedom of thought and freedom of choice are the foundation for a democratic nation. However, right-wing politicians and one of their owners, the Christian Religious Right, reject the idea that these freedoms are the right of every American, regardless of race, color, social status, or religious affiliation, including none at all. 

The truth is Evangelical leaders and their flock cannot be Christians because they do not believe the lessons in the New Testament. All of their beliefs originate from the pages of the Old Testament. Although Jesus Christ forbade his followers from judging others, Evangelicals are the most judgmental people I know. If you are not like them, believing what they believe, you are living a life of sin. This is not only Anti-Christian, it is opposed to the spirit of the Constitution. 

Although I am not a religious man, I believe that Jesus Christ was at the very least a great Prophet, whose lessons were simple: love one another, judge not lest ye be judged, and practice compassion and kindness. If every human being lived according to His teachings, the world would have far less evil. 

Finally, for politicians, Christianity is not important or real. It is a tool they use to win elections. I have never known any professional politician who actually believes in the principles and morals taught by Jesus Christ. Lies and hiding the truth from the American people is standard operating procedure.
