Please, not Another Old, White, Trump Crony

Moscow Mitch McConnell is stepping down as the Republican leader in the Senate. At the age of 82, this is something he should have done more than a decade ago. He is the creator of the “party of no,” and the reason congress has failed the American people for the last 15 years. It is he who stacked the Supreme Court after creating policies which he threw aside for personal benefit in October of 2020, just days before the general election.

I will be very pleased to see him go. His “party first” policy is why our government is dysfunctional today. The people of Kentucky gave us this mess for the last 40 years. His obstructionist policies are legendary. When Chuck Schumer became the Senate Majority Leader hundreds of bills remained on his desk which Moscow Mitch refused to put up for a vote. Many of these bills would have improved the quality of life for most Americans, and many involved improving the lives of our military personnel.

Although I will be pleased to see him go, there is a major problem. Not a single Republican Senator is qualified to become their party’s leader.

One Senator has already placed himself in consideration: John Cornyn, the senior Senator from Texas. Although he is a MAGA Republican, and unfit to represent those who call themselves Republicans today, he seeks the position to aid Trump should the American people display extreme ignorance and put Trump in the White House again.

Our federal government is irreparable. We now have a one-party system. What was once the Grand Old Party is known by two names today, both with the same definition: MAGA Republicans and The American Fascist Party. Each year our legislative branch has passed between 200-600 bills. In 2023 only 34 bills became law. Today’s fake Republicans are entirely to blame for the failure of the government of the United States.

Nothing will change if Cornyn becomes his party’s leader. He is another old, (72), white man from Texas who is a racist, a bigot, a misogynist, who supports his party’s fascist agenda.

Our government can only be repaired if all “Republicans” are voted out of office. We must have a two-party system which using deliberation and compromise to pass legislation which positively affects the future of all Americans.

It seems that the Senator from Arizona kept the little man from South Carolina in line, and influenced him to do the right thing most of the time.
