Time to Celebrate: Alabama Secedes from the Union

You might remember a moronic effort by the worst senator in history, Ted Cruz, a few years ago. He spearheaded an effort to have Texas secede from the Union. I was in favor of his plan. In fact, I am in favor of allowing all red states to secede from the Union. We don’t need any of them, and their governments hate my America.

Yesterday we rid our country of one of the worst. Another extremist group of fake Republicans passed a bill banning some of the most important values of American life.

[Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on Wednesday signed legislation that would ban diversity, equity and inclusion programs at public schools, universities and state agencies and prohibit the teaching of “divisive concepts” including that someone should feel guilty because of their race or gender.]

I have watched red states pass racist and bigoted legislation for the last 11 years. Nothing shouldn’t surprise me. However, this level of racism and hatred is far and above the rest.

I will not miss Alabama. It has been a disgrace for all Americans throughout my life. I remember George Wallace in my younger days. He made his life’s work finding new ways to make the lives of Black Americans more painful.

In May of 1972 Wallace was shot, leaving him paralyzed. But this didn’t stop the white supremacist. Then, when he was out of office, the ignorant people of Alabama elected his wife, Lurleen.

Today another old, white woman is living in the governor’s mansion. She is nothing less than the reincarnation of the Wallace family.

To Alabama I say, “good-bye” and good riddance. We will not miss you.
