Sometimes I Think No One is Paying Attention and That’s How Republicans Like It
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Donald Trump and his pretend Republican Party fear one thing
more than anything else: the truth. I am saddened that I don’t have a million
followers who cannot wait to read my blog daily. However, I will tell you once
again about the most important issue in every election year, the economy.
I’m going to take you back to 1981. Republicans would like
you to believe that Ronald Reagan was a great president. This is far from the
truth. In my estimation, he is listed in the category of the five worst
presidents in history.
The Corruption Which Exists in Washington Today Began in
1981
The truth about Reagan is revealed in his domestic policy.
Reagan was the first Republican president to demand unquestioned loyalty from
his party. Free thought and opposition to our 40th president’s
policies were forbidden. The entire right side of the Capitol Building was
united against the left side, and occasionally each other..
It was Reagan who began the wars on the working class, minorities,
and women. It was Reagan who is responsible for the lobby known as the
Christian Religious Right. The fact that a single religion is allowed to
influence what happens in our government is a violation of the First Amendment.
And it was also Reagan who was the first president who placed our nation in
debt for a trillion dollars when he completed his second term in office. Sadly,
his three Republican successors used the same failed economic policy of “trickle-down
economics,” and brought us to where we are today.
Bailing Out Incompetent Republicans
History proves that anyone who calls themselves a “Republican”
is incapable of governing effectively.
Reagan was succeeded by his vice-president, George H.W.
Bush. Bush served a single term for a single reason. His decision to continue
Reagan’s economic policy increased the national debt. In an effort to correct
the situation, he was forced to raise taxes.
To the rescue came William Jefferson Clinton. Between 1993
and 2001 the Clinton Administration stabilized the economy and helped it grow.
On January 20, 2001, President Clinton was replaced by another Republican,
George W. Bush. Bush was the first president in decades to enter office knowing
that the national treasury contained a surplus.
Bush 43 Was a Liar and Totally Incompetent
Just months after taking the oath of office, George W. Bush
felt he needed a vacation. He and his vice-president, Dick Cheney, were
apparently overworked. However, before leaving Washington, they were briefed by
the leaders of our national security organizations. The subject was an “imminent
threat” to our nation had been confirmed. Weeks later the attacks on 9/11
devasted our nation.
This was just the beginning of a long list of problems
created by the Bush Administration. He placed our nation in two illegal,
immoral, and unwinnable wars at the cost of hundreds of billions of dollars and
thousands of lives. His fiscal policy of “trickle-down economics” was
responsible for the Great Recession, which almost became the second depression.
Democrat Barack Obama to the Rescue
In 2008 the American people chose its first Black President,
Barack Obama. He selected the finest economic minds in our nation and rescued
the economy. Mr. Obama accomplished the impossible. Although he faced the “party
of no,” he established a national healthcare system, the Affordable Care Act. By
his own admission, it was not and is not perfect, but it was a beginning. He
left office in 2017 with programs in place to continue the recovery from near
financial disaster caused by Bush over eight years.
The Worst of the Worst
In 2016 Donald Trump lost the popular vote but secured a
slim victory in the Electoral College. This sad day for America was made
possible with the assistance of James Comey, the mainstream media, and, of
course, Vladimir Putin.
Trump’s first actions involved removing the plans and
programs created by President Obama and violating the Constitution. Our economy
showed signs of slipping into another recession. Thn the worst that could
happen, happened.
In December of 2019, Trump was informed that a serious public
health threat was imminent. Over the next three months Trump did nothing,
telling our nation’s people, “it will just go away.”
When Americans began dying in large numbers in March, he was
forced to take action. However, it was too little and too late. More than one
million lives were lost and unemployment skyrocketed as thousands of businesses
were forced to close.
Never Fear: in 2020 Another Democrat was Chosen to Save our
Nation
In 2020 Joe Biden crushed Trump in both the popular and
Electoral College vote in what Trump’s election czar called “the fairest and
most secure election in history.”
President Biden began his first term in office with a plan
to distribute the Covid-19 vaccine across America quickly. At the same time he
passed funding which placed money in the hands of all Americans which saved
jobs and businesses across America. Businesses began to reopen, and today our
economy is flourishing. We are in better shape today than we have been since
2000.
I assume you are seeing a pattern here.
The Primary Reason Democrats are Better for All Americans
The primary reason Democratic presidents are better for all
Americans is based on their decisions and selection of advisors who are
competent, and even brilliant. Republicans often appoint aids and cabinet
positions based on paybacks for political contributions, and other efforts
helping them win elections.
Finally, there are other reasons Democrats are far more
competent, including the fact that they work for the American people instead of
taking long naps, Reagan and Bush 43, or partying at Mar-a-Lago, holding hate
rallies, and chasing a little white ball through the grass, Donald Trump.
I suggest you vote for a man who will serve your needs and
wishes. Joe Biden is the most accomplished President since Bill Clinton.
