Trump’s Desperate Need for Relevancy Makes Jury Selection Extremely Difficult
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
You support him or you hate him, there are no “undecideds.”
You love your country or you hate it and believe that Donald Trump’s efforts to
destroy democracy are more important than the future of your grandchildren.
Trump’s ego desperately needs constant massaging, or he will
explode into a fit of rage and likely stroke out. His failing efforts to remain
relevant make him the most infamous person in our nation. Everyone who is high
school age or older has an opinion about “Big Adolf.”
Therefore, selecting 12 jurors and six alternates for his
criminal trial in New York, a city in which the orange buffoon is not welcome,
is a challenge. Background checks on prospective jurors has been extensive, the
goal being a fair trial for an obese old man who has never treated another man
or woman fairly.
COULD YOU BE AN IMPARTIAL JUROR ON A TRUMP TRIAL
I have worked hard for 77 years to be a fair-minded man who
is willing to listen to both sides of any issue in a civil discussion. I
attempt to exclude emotions and base my opinions exclusively on facts. Because
of my efforts to think independently and keep an open mind, I am positive I
would be rejected as a participant in Trump’s “hush money” trial.
I read news from all over the world, I don’t watch
television and its fake news broadcasts which consistently eliminate the
complete story about important issues. Unfortunately, I occasionally read
comments made by the most illiterate and boring speaker in history, your former
illegitimate president. He admits to his guilt. He told the American people
that he is a sexual predator on the “Access Hollywood” tapes. He told us the
2016 election was rigged. The only thing he excluded was that Vladimir Putin was
“rigging” it in his favor. His endless lie about the results of the 2020
election proves that he knows it was the “most secure and fair election in
history,” as reported by his own election czar. His tendency for repetition is
nothing more than an effort to convince his supporters that his lies are facts
as he would like them to be.
Could you be an impartial juror if Trump was on trial? I
doubt it.
WILL HE BE CONVICTED?
The biggest problem is that unless you have been living in a
cave or on a deserted island for the last nine years, you have all the facts
about his “sex for money” incident with adult film star, Stormy Daniels. You
have heard that he used an intermediary to pay Ms. Daniels to sign a
non-disclosure agreement, and keep his act of infidelity a secret from the
voting public. His personal attorney at the time, Michael Cohen, gave Ms. Daniels
a check for $130,000.
I cannot see any effort which could create reasonable doubt.
Multiple women have accused “Big Adolf” of sexual assault. Recently he was
ordered to pay Ms. E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million in a defamation lawsuit
related to an unsolicited sexual encounter.
TRUMP WILL RECEIVE A FAIR TRIAL
When Trump loses, he will undoubtedly claim that the trial
was unfair: that “he did nothing wrong.” His usual defense.
Let me be clear. I have never witnessed efforts made with
such detail to ensure that a single trial will be conducted without bias in my
life. If Moscow Mitch McConnell had conducted a single fair trial after Trump’s
two impeachments, this trial would not be happening today.
Trump is constantly placing his freedom and his economic
future in jeopardy with his own words and actions. When he faces a trial for
his many crimes, we already know he is guilty: Trump told us so. His lack of
average intelligence and surrender to his weak emotional state make him extremely
vulnerable.
One last note. If our leaders in October of 2016, President
Obama, Moscow Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer, Paul Ryan, and Nancy Pelosi,
would have informed the voting public about Putin’s interference, Trump would
have lost the election, and most of Trump’s 91 indictments would not have
become a reality.
