Trump’s Firsts, and Hopefully Lasts

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

Trump is the first man to “accomplish” several things in America’s nearly 248 years. Hopefully, no one will be the second person to constantly violate the Constitution and embarrass our nation.

Trump was the first person in his party to seek the Republican Party’s presidential nomination without experience in any form of government and no verifiable proof that he ever worked in any profession for a single day in 77 years. He was also the first alleged draft dodger to believe he could gain the support of right-wing voters who generally favor war over peace.

Trump was the first presidential candidate to win a major party’s nomination without taking a position on a single issue. Trump won by lying to voters, and hurling personal attacks against his rivals. He failed to receive the support of 90 percent of his party’s leaders.

THE ILLEGITIMATE ELECTION OF 2016

Trump was losing in the polls prior to November 8, 2016. However, our government received verified information in October of 2016 that Vladimir Putin was interfering in the election in support of a Donald Trump presidency. Unfortunately, all of our country’s leaders, from the President to the Speaker of the House displayed cowardice and refused to inform the voting public. The result was Trump’s loss in the popular vote, but an illegitimate victory in the Electoral College. Once again the states, not the people, chose a president.

Trump became the first president to be elected with the assistance of the leader of a foreign nation.

LET THE CONSTITUTIONAL VIOLATIONS BEGIN

He immediately and openly violated the Constitution. He banned all Muslims from entering our nation, with the exception of his benefactors who lived and ruled in Saudi Arabia.

Trump became the first president to violate the emoluments clause by continuing to engage in business ventures with foreign nations.

Trump took nepotism to a new level when he chose daughter Ivanka, and son-in-law, Jared to “work” in the White House, although they lacked any qualifications to do so.

In deference to the petroleum industry, Trump was the first American president to refuse to add his signature to the Paris Accord, promising to reduce carbon emissions.

LET ME SKIP AHEAD TO SOME OF HIS MORE SERIOUS CRIMES AND FAILURES

Trump was the first president to attempt bribing the leader of a foreign nation. He offered monetary aid to the President of Ukraine in exchange for “dirt” on Joe and Hunter Biden.

For this he was impeached in the House. However, Moscow Mitch McConnell refused to conduct a fair trial in the Senate.

In 2018 Trump revealed that he was the first president to become the leader of the Neo-Nazi movement in America.

After violence erupted at a white supremacy demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia, killing a young anti-fascism woman, Trump stood before the cameras and claimed “there were good people on both sides.” Trump became the first president to admit that he supports the white nationalist movement.

THE BIG STUFF

At the end of 2019, Trump was informed about the possibility of a deadly pandemic approaching America. It originated in China. Trump ignored the information, and became the first president to refuse taking leadership in a possible crisis.

Until Americans began to die in March of 2020, Trump told the American people, “it will just go away.” More than one million lives have been lost, and the economy plummeted, nearly becoming the second Great Depression.

Trump lost the 2020 election. He was soundly defeated in the popular vote and in the Electoral College. Without any evidence, Trump screamed “foul,” refusing to engage in a peaceful transition of power for the first time in our country’s history.

His “big lie” continued. Trump began organizing and planning a coup. On January 6, he executed the attempt. He became the first president to attempt an overthrow of his own government.

As Trump was exiting the White House on January 20, 2021, he stole an estimated 14 boxes of national secrets. When they were discovered missing, the National Archives became aware that Trump took them. He claimed to have returned them, but an inventory revealed he lied to the FBI.

This prompted a raid inside Trump’s current residence, Mar-a-Lago. Multiple boxes of classified documents were found, hidden throughout the millionaires and billionaires only playpen. Trump once again swore that all of the material had now been returned. Once again, he lied. Months later additional documents were found in Trump’s private areas of the resort. Trump was the first president to violate the Espionage Act.

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, Trump became the first current or former president to be accused, tried, and convicted of a felony. He was found guilty of all 34 counts.

WHO WANTS TO BE YOUR PRESIDENT? REALLY?

Throughout my 77 years, it was nearly impossible to win a federal election if the candidate had been divorced, or was unable to claim membership in a Christian Church. Trump is currently in his third marriage, and engaged in extramarital affairs during each. He admitted to being a sexual predator in the “Access Hollywood” tapes, and has been accused of sexual assault by at least 25 women. Morals and principles should matter, but apparently not to Republican voters.

Trump claims to be a member of a Christian church. However, the pastor of that church claims that your illegitimate president has never stepped inside the door. Trump’s only “gods” are money and power.

Without Putin, Trump would never have received the presidency in 2016.
