Wave Good-bye to Democracy Forever

If Trump wins the Electoral College in November, it will be travesty. As a proud and patriotic American, I cannot accept the fact that a convicted felon, a convicted sexual predator, an admitted fascist based on his promised actions if elected, a man without morals or principles could defile our White House for another four years.

However, I am telling you that it may not matter. The most important branch of our government is now the Supreme Court.

When Trump, Moscow Mitch McConnell, and the Federalist Society colluded to stack the Court in favor of right-wing extremists, it became our Founding Father’s greatest nightmare. The Court is now politicized, and likely will remain so for the next 30-40 years.

A BAD DECISION MAY NOW END THE DREAM

To understand why our Founding Fathers gave justices on the Court lifetime appointments, we go back to the Constitutional Convention.

The men who created, debated, and signed the Constitution understood the challenges political parties would bring to the principles and ideals implanted within the United States of America. When the judicial branch became the focus as the third branch of what is known as a system of checks and balances was discussed, their first goal was to prevent any political party from having an unfair influence in the decision-making process of the justices.

They came to the conclusion that they should not be chosen by the people. They would not be elected officials. If they were nominated by the president, and endure a confirmation process in the senate, when confirmed, they would receive lifetime appointments. This would remove the need to take positions on issues based on their political impact, and be judged solely on their relationship to Constitutional Law.

Of course, anyone involved in our country’s political system is aware that not imposing term limits on all three branches was a huge mistake. Our Founding Fathers underestimated the temptations of the men and women who would succeed them more than 200 years in the future. Power and great wealth have become aphrodisiacs for professional politicians.

In 2020 an unethical and brazen decision by Moscow Mitch McConnell removed any possibility of a balanced and fair Supreme Court for years to come. Breaking his own rule, he rushed the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett through the senate. This gave justices appointed by Republican presidents a 6-3 advantage. Beginning in 2021, the Court’s decisions have been mostly in support of the right-wing agenda of American politics.

There most controversial decision occurred on one of the darkest days in our nation’s history, June 24, 2022. By a vote of 6-3, this biased Court stuck down a decision made by a legitimate Court 49 years in the past. A woman’s right to make decisions about her personal physical and mental health were removed when Roe v Wade was overturned.

THE COURT’S LATEST STRIKE AGAINST THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE

On Friday, this biased Court ignored the will of the people again. At least 60 percent of all Americans support actions which would slow or halt climate change. It will not surprise you to learn that corporations oppose any action directed at the defeat of the problem which will result in the end of the world as we know it.

On Friday, by a vote of 6-3, the Court struck down a law which gave several federal agencies the power to force an end to actions by corporations which pollute the air, water, and soil. This biased vote ended a 40-year-old precedence.

Imagine what damage this Court can do to the world over the next few decades.

TRUMP IS A MORON WITH POWER, BUT THE COURT IS EVIL AND POSSESS THE ULTIMATE POWER

I find Donald Trump to be the most despicable person in the world, only tied with his mentor, Vladimir Putin. However six names, all wearing black robes hiding even blacker hearts, have the power to cause far greater damage than the old, obese, fascist who is seeking a return to the scene of his crimes. They are John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. Remember them: history will.
