What Percentage of Campaign Contribution Will Trump Hide in a Secret Account?
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Trump is nothing more than a common grifter. I don’t know
why, but investigations begun several years ago after questions were asked but
not answered about where his excess campaign funds are, as well as millions of
dollars donated to the smallest inauguration in modern history, suddenly came
to a halt.
It is fair to assume that Trump used millions of dollars for
his own interests. It is on record that he embezzled money from his own
charity.
MOVING AHEAD TO 2024
In just two weeks Trump supporters donated tens of millions
of dollars to his campaign. How much of that will be used for the purpose
intended?
Today’s “Republicans” are experiencing disappointments far
more significant than raising money. They are losing close races in swing
states and in some red states. Candidates supported by Trump in these primaries
are struggling.
The most important change is found in recent polls. A FOX
News poll shows President Biden gaining 12 points over Trump. Independents now
favor Mr. Biden by nine points.
For me the meaning is clear. A growing number of voters are
rejecting party affiliation and throwing their support to candidates whose
position on the issues most important to them and their families.
I have encouraged my readers to take this position for
years. I continue to believe that voting for a party is ignorant and a gift to
our failed professional politicians. I began as an Independent in 1968 and will
remain so for the remainder of my life. The only change in my choices is the
result of changes within the Republican Party.
Beginning in 1981, the once Grand Old Party began moving
away from the principles of the Party of Lincoln in support of special
interest. Today’s Plutocracy is the result of this change. Extremism began to
invade the right-wing in 2010 with the election of men and women who called
themselves the “TEA Party.” In 2018 a group seeking to move our government even
farther to the right, calling themselves the “Freedom Caucus” took control of
the Republican side of the aisle in the House of Representatives. These groups
are the reason our government is dysfunctional today.
In a recent survey, 27 percent claimed to be Republican
voters, and another 27 percent said they were Democrats. 43 percent identified
themselves as Independents.
Voting is our most important right, and guaranteed by the
First Amendment. We, the people, have a single weapon against a corrupt and
disengaged government. It must be used during every election and used wisely.
The legislative branch wields the greatest power in Washington. It has been
corrupted over centuries because our Founding Fathers failed to place term
limits on all 435 Representatives, and 100 Senators. This must change if our
nation is to survive.
CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION AND SAVE AMERICA
There is no need to explain why our presidents have term
limits. They are allowed to serve two terms or a maximum of 10 years. Term limits
must be placed on the legislative and judicial branches as well. The level of
corruption in the House, Senate, and Supreme Court is unforgivable. Power
corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This is what has happened in
Washington, and will eventually result in the destruction of the United States
from within.
Another change is logical and necessary. We are the only
nation conducting free and fair elections whose campaign season lasts for
nearly two years. This is why the money spent on campaigns is so great and wasted.
The total amount of money spent in a general election could buy new homes for
every American family. It could fund healthcare for all for the next decade.
The average campaign season in most countries lasts about
three months. That’s enough. In America, by election day, I hate all the
candidates. I’m tired of listening to the same old claims and just seeing their
faces everywhere is upsetting.
Politics is THE ugliest profession.
