I Love These Two Suggestions About What President Biden Should Do as the First King of the United States
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
I offered my own suggestions about what Mr. Biden Should do
now that the Supreme Court confirmed that a president is indeed a king.
However, Alumbrados, writing for the Daily Kos, offered two ideas which I
supported 40 years ago.
First, repeal the Electoral College, and allow the people to
choose their president. Every vote should count, and if the popular vote was
the only number which counted, Republicans would never win a presidential
election.
Second, declare voting day a national holiday. This, too,
would be death for Republicans. The turnout could be historical, and the facts
reveal that when a large number of voters cast their ballots, Democrats win
almost every election. This is why red states continue to pass laws in support
of voter suppression.
MR. BIDEN COULD GUARANTEE HIMSELF A VICTORY IN NOVEMBER
Democratic politicians refuse to forgive the President’s
poor performance last Thursday. After Mr. Biden’s energetic and uplifting
performance during the State of the Union address, everyone, including yours
truly, expected more. It was disappointing. However, most of the President’s
critics forgot that speech.
In reality, much of the blame must be placed on moderators
Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. They allowed Trump to avoid answering direct
questions, and ramble on and on about his own agenda. Whenever Trump is
involved, there can be no debate. He is the least informed fake politician in
the world.
I must admit that a part of me wishes the president, excuse
me, “king,” would rid our nation of the Electoral College. I am opposed to the
states choosing my president.
Several countries consider voting day of such great
importance, that it has become a national holiday. Why not here? There is no
reason not to.
I personally refuse to celebrate the worst idea of all,
“Presidents Day.” Less than 10 percent of our nation’s leaders deserve the
honor. Why should we celebrate Buchanan, Jackson, Andrew Johnson, Gerald Ford,
Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, or Trump? Each of these men caused harm to our
nation’s people rather than improve their quality of life.
Our right to vote is the only weapon against tyranny in
Washington, now that the Fourth Estate no longer exists. Every citizen deserves
the time and opportunity to go to the polls. I am disabled and mail my ballot
in when I receive it. It is more important to me than nearly anything else in
the world.
The American people have no other weapon against tyranny and
corruption in Washington now that the fourth estate no longer exists. We should
celebrate this day and ensure that everyone has the time and opportunity to
cast their ballots.
I KNOW IT’S WRONG; NO AMERICAN CITIZEN SHOULD BE ABOVE THE
LAW; IMMUNITY IS NOT THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT OF THE PRESIDENT
A part of me would love to celebrate the end of the
Electoral College, and make the most important day happening every four years a
national holiday. However, I have some knowledge of President Biden’s
character, and his beliefs in the ideals of our Founding Fathers. Unlike Trump,
he has principles and a great sense of morality.
THINK ABOUT THIS
Our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, warned the
American people that no outside force could destroy the United States, and only
we, ourselves could end the dream of our Founding Fathers.
These six members of the Supreme Court were all confirmed
before the three darkest days in our nation’s history, caused by members of our
own government.
January 6, 2021, was undoubtedly the darkest day in U.S.
history. I watched television for three straight hours after a sitting
president planned, organized, and executed an attempted and violent overthrow
of our government. Trump believed that if challenged for his actions, his
stacked Court would “bail him out.” He was right.
June 24, 2022, a biased and politicized Court removed a
woman’s right to make decisions about her personal mental and physical health. A
decision made 49 years in the past by a legitimate Supreme Court, known as Roe
v Wade, was overturned. This was the second darkest day in the history of
America.
Most Recently, on July 1, 2024, this same corrupt Court
voided the intent of our Founding Fathers and created a path for our presidents
to become kings, queens, or any other form of autocrat.
Don’t make the mistake of ignoring the seriousness of
placing a president above the law. Of our 46 presidents, many of them would
have been thrilled at the opportunity of never facing elections again, and the
ability to have absolute power over our nation.
Roberts, Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett are
names history will never forget, but wish we could.
