In Praise of an American President: A Leader in a Time of National Crisis
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
I will continue to write in support of President Biden. One
debate has little importance in the bigger picture. The reasons for reelecting Mr.
Biden match the growing number of reasons why Trump must not be allowed to
return to the White House.
Maybe the most important reason to choose Biden or Trump in
November involves how either man would act in a national crisis. The mainstream
media refuses to discuss this all-important issue, but I believe it is vital to
consider the character, or lack thereof, of both men.
BIDEN STEPS FORWARD ON 9/11
On September 11, 2001, Senator Joe Biden was traveling on a
train which would take him to his job as a United States Senator. Mr. Biden was
celebrating a speech before the National Press Club the day before. He had
criticized the Bush Administration for moving away from longstanding arms
control agreements, placing our nation in a “stand alone” position.
However, his reverie was broken when he was informed of the
attacks on the World Trade Center Towers in New York City. When the train
arrived, Mr. Biden hurried to the Capitol Building, eager to join with his fellow
senators hoping to offer a sense of security to the American people. Their
government was in control and ready to take action. However, he was not allowed
inside the building. There was a serious concern that key buildings in
Washington were also targeted.
He spoke to reporters asking the American people to stay
calm. President Bush, who had been on vacation, was on his way to the White
House. He said that the senate would soon be in session when the President
returned.
However, none of this happened. President Bush was taken to
an undisclosed location for security reasons, and all government buildings
remained closed.
Mr. Biden decided to go to a Mosque in Newark. He offered a
short statement to the American people.
“Whoever is guilty of these terrible crimes, whether it is
Osama bin Laden or somebody else, one thing is certain: by his very actions, by
killing thousands of innocent people he proved that he is no true Muslim.”
This is leadership, something Mr. Biden has shown over the
last 41 months.
TRUMP AND THE PANDEMIC
The one time in his four years pretending to be your
president when the American people needed leadership came in December of 2019.
It is common knowledge that Trump refused to read the
President’s Daily Brief. However, he was informed by one of his aides that a
deadly coronavirus appeared to have originated in China, and was beginning to
spread across Asia, and soon to Europe.
He ignored the information. In January the press learned
about the threat of a health emergency, and asked Trump what he was doing about
the situation.
His response was, ‘America is better prepared, and it will
just go away.’ This was his response over the next two months until the first
American lives were lost in March of 2020.
He stood in front of the television cameras and lied again,
claiming that his administration was prepared to protect the lives of the
American people.
He suggested everything from Ivermectin, to drinking bleach,
or the use of strong beams of light would kill the Covid-19 virus.
Major pharmaceutical companies were eager to get involved. A
new way to create vaccines would be implemented to manufacture millions of doses
of a life-saving drug within months, not years.
They succeeded. However, Trump and his staff had failed to
make any plans for its distribution. Only after President Biden’s inauguration on
January 20, 2021 was a plan put in place to begin mass distribution of the
Covid-19 vaccine.
Before the deadly virus could be controlled, one million
Americans lost their lives. Health experts are convinced that if Trump had
taken timely action, as many as 100,000 lives might have been saved.
THESE ARE THE FACTS: TRUMP IS NOT A LEADER, HE IS NOTHING
MORE THAN A FAILED BUSINESSMAN
Trump admits that if reelected he would not serve all
Americans. He will only be concerned with those who supported his election. He
also claims that he will spend his first few months in office seeking revenge
on his enemies, and will likely become a dictator immediately to assist with
his plans for punishing his adversaries.
Once again, Trump never was an American President and never
will be. He is not “unusual,” “different,” or “unorthodox,” he is a malignant
narcissist and a traitor whose every action is focused on himself and no one
else.
YOU MAY KNOW MY HISTORY WITH JOE BIDEN
I have admitted that in 2020 I was not a Biden supporter. I
believed that Kamala Harris was the candidate we needed. She was a relatively young
woman whose father is Black and her mother from India. She was and is a perfect
example of an American in the 21st century.
However, on January 21, 2021, Mr. Biden stepped up and took
action to save lives and save our economy. Under Trump’s failed leadership and
disastrous economic policies, America was pushed into a near depression.
His accomplishments are numerous, but none more important
than the economy for all Americans, which is at its highest point since the
Clinton Administration.
