One Day, 100 Million Dollars, Excitement, Endorsements, and Strong Demographics

If the last 24 hours are any indicator of what a Kamala Harris nomination might do for the Democratic Party, the real hero will be President Joe Biden. His courage to do the right thing for his country, his party, and most importantly for his family and himself will not be forgotten.

I would normally say that when positive change comes in the ugly world of politics, the enthusiasm will lessen over the next 72 hours. Some of this may be true after yesterday’s announcement that the Democratic Party is “changing horses” partway through the race. However, there are several factors which make this situation unique.

REPUBLICANS ARE EXPERIENCING A WAVE OF UNANTICIPATED FEAR

J.D. Vance, Trump’s sad little choice for a running mate, fired the first volley of attacks against the new presumptive Democratic presidential nominee on Monday. From the party which can only survive with endless lies, here is his baseless attack on Ms. Harris.

“Kamala Harris lied about it, my Senate Democratic colleagues lied about it, the media lied about it,” he told the crowd. “Every single person who saw Joe Biden knew that he wasn’t capable of doing the job. And for three years, they said nothing until he became political dead weight.”

I have no doubt that either President Biden or Kamala Harris can defeat the worst presidential candidate in history. However, the Vice-President presents unique qualities, and a promise of something new and exciting.

That may the important word: “excitement.” Ms. Harris is more in touch with most Americans than another old, white man. A woman, nearly 20 years young than Trump, ethnically Black and Asian, will inspire voters to go to the polls or mail in their ballots.

Ms. Harris has already received the endorsement of many key Democrats, including the Clintons, the Obamas, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and a long list of Democratic Governors, Representatives and Senators.

Sadly, money is important. America’s elections are the longest and most expensive in the world. To raise 100 million dollars in 24 hours is unheard of. Once again, this is what motivation looks like.

THIS COULD ALL BE TEMPORARY

I understand human nature, most of the time. What is happening related to Kamala Harris could all end in a few days. However, I hope she rides an enormous wave headed directly towards the White House.

I hope and believe she is what our nation needs and wants for the next eight years.
