What Would a Kamala Harris vs Donald Trump Campaign Look Like?
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Earlier this year, I predicted that neither Trump nor Biden
would be on the ballot this November. Recent events should have confirmed my assumption.
Trump is a convicted felon. 20 years ago the real Republican
Party would have dropped him for what he is: unfit for any office at any level.
However, a politicized Supreme Court declared Trump above the law, and he will
continue his pitiful campaign. The Court also ignored the exact wording of the
14th Amendment, which prevents anyone involved in an attempt to
overthrow our government the right to run for election.
President Biden’s resignation from his campaign is doubtful.
He had a “bad day” during the first debate, which will have little meaning in
November.
HOW WOULD SHE FARE AGAINST TRUMP?
However, if he should decide to end a life in the ugly world
of politics which began in 1972, I would hope and expect that he would endorse
Vice-President Kamala Harris for the presidency.
Before I get into why she would make a great candidate, I must
admit that in 2020 she was my first choice. I have been pleasantly surprised
with the many accomplishments of President Biden, but age was a problem for me
back in 2020, and I also believe that we should have had a woman president in
2016. That situation could be remedied this year.
First, she is just 59 years old, much closer in age to the
average American at 38.2. Secondly, I repeat. She is a strong and experienced
woman. Third, her father is a Black man from Jamaica, and her mother from
India. These demographics have yet to declare their support for a single
candidate.
VOTERS COULD FIND EXCITEMENT IN THIS ELECTION
Most importantly, I believe that Democratic and Independent
voters would have a reason to be excited. Ms. Harris is the exact opposite of
Trump. Of course she would not attract Trump’s Klan, but voters who have become
disenchanted with the convicted felon just might find someone they could
believe in.
I believe Kamala Harris could help the American people
forget that Trump ever existed.
