Trump Denounces his Own Party for its Policies
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
I live in Northern Nevada. In 2010, Republican Sharron Angle
challenged Democrat Harry Reid for his seat in the Senate, a seat he first won
in 1987. As the press stated, “Sharron Angle is Reid’s greatest asset.” Angle
constantly made moronic statements to the press. Her ignorance made many
politicos like me almost forget Dan Quayle.
Trump is trying even harder. His lack of knowledge about
what is happening in his own party reveals a level of stupidity seldom heard
from a party’s major candidate.
One of Kamala Harris’ proposals is to end price gouging by
the companies providing food and other necessities to our grocery stores. Trump
calls her plan “communist,” and claims these would be “Soviet style” controls.
There’s a little problem about your statement, Donny boy. A
number of Republican Attorneys General along with their Democratic counterparts,
are planning measures similar to those of Ms. Harris.
[In Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxton, a Republican, sued a
large egg supplier for raising prices by about 300 percent at the height of the
pandemic lockdowns in 2020.
Kris Kobach, the Republican attorney general of Kansas, is
suing a large natural gas supplier over allegations that it gouged consumers in
the aftermath of a 2021 winter storm. And in storm-prone Florida, state
officials widely publicize a law that prohibits sharp price increases in
essential items during emergencies.
“Nobody likes to be gouged when they’ve lost their roof,”
said Trish Conners, a former chief deputy attorney general of Florida now in
private practice at the firm Stearns Weaver Miller. The state laws address the
“fundamental public safety role that state AGs have, and it’s largely
bipartisan. You don’t see too much difference between AGs in that regard.”]
NO ONE WITH AVERAGE INTELLIGENCE COULD POSSIBLY BELIEVE THAT
TRUMP IS FIT FOR ANY POSITION IN GOVERNMENT AT ANY LEVEL
If anyone had doubts that Trump was unfit for any position
in government at any level, they must look at the orange buffoon’s many
failures between 2017 and 2021.
Trump continued to follow the same fiscal policy began by
Ronald Reagan in 1981. George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, and Trump believed
that “Supply Side Economics,” better known as “Trickle-Down Economics, was the
solution for growing our economy.
All four gave tax breaks to corporations and the super-rich,
claiming that they would become “job creators.” However, these companies and
individuals used their increased profits to hide money in offshore accounts, or
to purchase additional mansions and other unnecessary luxuries, as unemployment
became a greater problem. All four Republican presidents left office after
adding trillions of dollars to the national debt, and placing our nation’s
economy in or close to a recession.
Trump’s greatest failure was undoubtedly related to
Covid-19. Although he was first informed of a probable health crisis coming to
America within months in December of 2019, he ignored the warning and did
nothing until mid-March of 2020 when American’s began to die from the effects
of the coronavirus. His policy was, “it will just go away.”
His failure to lead our people through the pandemic resulted
in a loss of life for more than one-million Americans, as our economy moved
closer to another depression.
TRUMP’S ATTACKS AGAINST THE SUCCESSES OF PRESIDENT BIDEN ARE
LIMITED
Facts leave little doubt that the agenda of President Biden
has been more successful than any president since Bill Clinton. However,
although inflation has eased, “Greedflation” continues to be a problem. This is
why Kamala Harris is focused on gasoline and food prices. My wife and I are in
our seventies and our weekly grocery store bill has increased by about 40
percent overall. A little trick by the corporations which supply our
necessities to sustain life adds to the problem but is not included in the
statistics. No longer do you purchase “a pound of bacon,” or a “half gallon of
ice cream, or even “a pound of coffee.” Your package of bacon is now 12 ounces,
a half-gallon of ice cream, (64 oz.), is now in a 48 oz. container, and a “pound
of coffee” is now 12 ounces.
Don’t ask me about the contents of a box of cereal, or a bag
of potato chips.
ONE OF TRUMP’S MANY SMOKE SCREENS
Trump has been telling his people, those he refers to in
private as “basement dwellers,” that he will eliminate taxes on employees whose
income depends upon gratuities. Here’s the whole truth.
If he actually did achieve a promise for the first time,
employers would be allowed to reduce their base pay and reduce or eliminate
benefits. Not a fair tradeoff. Donald Trump has no interest in working-class
Americans.
I can sum this all up in one sentence: “if you vote for
Trump you must have your head examined.” Old but true.
