We Must Vote and Prove that the Polls Are Invalid
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
Once known as the “Fourth Estate,” Americans trusted the Mainstream
Media to protect us from the lies and corruption in Washington. However, today
the MSM is in collusion with politicians and fail to report the full truth
about any situation related to our federal government.
Recently, I read several articles claiming that Harris/Walz
did not receive a “bump” in the polls after the Democratic National Convention.
If you listened to Ms. Harris’ acceptance speech, you would find this hard to
believe. A little research confirms that there was a significant “bump” in the
polls favoring the Harris/Walz campaign. However, the MSM benefits from a close
election in the form of advertising revenue.
I must point to an important fact. Ignore the polls and
vote. Hillary Clinton lost the Electoral College in 2016 by less than 80,000
total votes in three states where the voter turnout was much lower than
expected. We must show strong support for Kamala Harris with another record
turnout, making a statement that she is what America needs today.
THE ELECTRONIC AGE CHANGED EVERYTHING
When I was a much young man, polling was much more accurate.
Most of this is based on the fact that everyone had landlines: wireless phones
were either unavailable or in their infancy. Even caller ID was something new.
We answered our phones most of the time.
Today, wireless phones are nearly universal. The creation of
cellular communication makes it easy to ignore anyone we choose or anyone we do
not know. I have hundreds of blocked numbers on file. I have assigned
individual ring tones to everyone whose calls I will answer.
I no longer take surveys. I don’t want to take the time to
answer questions. I know who I am voting for and choose not to be influenced by
polls or surveys. I am not alone.
POLL RESULTS DO NOT SERVE THE VOTING PUBLIC
Polls are taken for two reasons. The candidates want to know
where they need to spend more time campaigning, and the news services use those
polls to create stories about the coming election.
Candidates have campaign staffs large enough to conduct
polls. The mainstream media has become lazy and want someone to do their work
for them.
I don’t vote based on the polls. I give my vote to the
candidates whose position on the issues is most closely aligned with my own,
regardless of party affiliation.
I have little faith in polls: they are wrong more often than
they are right in the 21st century.
VOTE
The only thing I can tell you with 100 percent certainty is
that it is important to vote. Trump must be banished from Washington forever.
Personally, I am one of 78 percent of Democratic leaning
voters who is excited for the first time in 16 years about my choices on the
ballot
