If You Voted for Republicans Last Month, This is What You Paid For
I remember Republicans. As a 78-year-old lifelong
Independent voter, I was offered a choice when I went to the polls. I admit
that most of the time the Democratic candidate received my vote. The policies
of most Republicans were too regressive, and my beliefs are more progressive.
Change is always necessary, but sometimes change moves an entire nation in the
wrong direction. Sadly, the once Grand Old Party took its final breath on the
morning of January 20, 2017.
It is an undeniable fact that between 2017 and 2021, the
backwards policies of the Trump administration destroyed many of the
accomplishments made over the previous 60-70 years. Hate crimes rose by 800
percent as Blacks, Hispanics, non-Christians, the LGBTQ community, and women in
general were verbally and physically assaulted as your president continued to
use rhetoric focused on fear, anger, and hatred. He encouraged violence in his
name and his supporters eagerly responded.
Domestic terrorism became the greatest threat to the
American people. Beginning in 2017 the number of mass shootings in America
exceeded the number of days on the calendar. Republicans, in an act of
submission, turned their backs as right-wing extremists continued to maim and
kill women, nurses, and doctors to supposedly save the existence of a fetus
just inches in length. Law enforcement openly assaulted and murdered Black men
and women as we learned that “the boys in blue” harbored pervasive racism
within their ranks. A new civil rights movement arose called “Black Lives
Matter.” The response was mixed. Most Americans supported their efforts to end
racism in America. However Neo-Nazis came out of the shadows and threatened
everyone with the exception of pure white men and women. They became and remain
emboldened as their leader took residence in what became the Whitest House in
the land. During the 2024 campaign, right-wing extremists revealed a 922 page “Project
2025.” Reading it confirms that it is a new “fascist manifesto” clearly stating
the goals of Trump’s American Nazi Party.
In red states, the rights of all non-white women are
under attack. After one of the darkest days in American history, June 24, 2022,
when a stacked and biased Supreme Court repealed a 49-year-old decision by a
legitimate Court, ending a woman’s right to make decisions about her physical and
mental health. Ending Roe v Wade was a slap in the face to all womankind.
In one red state, which is blessed with great natural
beauty, but cursed with some of the most grotesque and ugly white people in
America, there is a growing effort by the Republican controlled state
legislature to severely punish women who decide to take back their human
rights.
Legislators in South Carolina have “introduced a bill
mandating the death penalty for women who seek an abortion.”
Does anything in that sentence make you think that South
Carolina is not part of America?
One of the reasons I supported Republicans before 1981
was their love of country. With this patriotic belief in hand, they fought for
individual rights, complete individual privacy, support for small business, and
overall, less government interference and control over the lives of all men and
women in America. The fact that today’s Republicans in Name Only no longer
support these principles, is irrefutable proof that the Party of Lincoln no
longer exists.
Republicans will be in complete control of our government
on January 20, 2025. The policy which began in 1981, established by Ronald
Reagan, prevents any self-proclaimed Republican man or woman in Washington from
thinking for themselves. Absolute loyalty and unity are required from anyone
who has an “R” next to their name on your ballot.
Trump is the right-wing’s “Fuhrer.” No action is taken by
anyone calling themselves Republican without the approval of Donald Trump. And
Donald Trump makes no decisions without the permission of his puppeteer,
Valdimir Putin.
