This Story Made me Laugh: Do They Think They Deserve a Raise?
The last two congresses, with control of the House in Republican’s incapable hands, passed the fewest bills into law in modern American history. Right-wing politicians spend most of their time protecting Trump from his many crimes and have no time and no interest in performing the jobs for which they were elected.
When they are in the Capitol Building, they spend most of their time contacting current and potential donors for their reelection campaigns. Although they are only required to be in Washington 100 days a year, when they are present their efforts are seldom focused on passing legislation which benefits all Americans.
It is fair to claim that the government of the United States of America is the most incompetent and corrupt in the world.
Now for your Friday Funny: Congress was actually considering giving themselves a raise. If, in your job, your production nosedived, would you be asking your employer for a raise?
The effort to give themselves a raise was attached to the recent spending bill, and the wording was so vague, it was removed from the bill.
They believe that they deserve a cost-of-living increase. Really? My wife and I rely solely on Social Security, and our “raise” for next year is just 2.5 percent. The truth is, the necessities we must purchase every month have increased in price by about 60 percent. Republicans continue to lobby against any increase for our nation’s elderly who rely mostly or entirely on the program they paid into for 40+ years.
The truth is, although the base salary for all 535 members of our legislative branch is $174,000 per year, thanks to lobbyists and other secretive groups, all but a handful declare annual incomes of more than one-million dollars.
Remember, fake Republicans want a government shutdown, but they would continue to receive their salaries and benefits. Those who actually work in our government would be unemployed, or forced to work without pay like the TSA.
The right thing to do would be returning congress to a volunteer job without pay as it was in 1789. A lack of accomplishments proves that what they are worth is “nothing.”
