Two Small Victories for America on January 9, 2025: I Hope This is the Beginning of Greater Things

On Thursday, January 9, 2025 America won two victories. Trump and Moscow Mitch’s stacked Supreme Court denied Trump’s appeal to halt his sentencing after being convicted on all 34 felony counts in the infamous hush money trial. On the same day, an Appellate Court denied a motion to keep the American people access to the Select Committee’s final report on the January 6, insurrection.

Today, Trump will forever be known as a convicted felon. This criminal will be the first inaugurated felon in our nation’s history. This brings me to ask a question: “how far has our nation fallen?” We celebrated real presidents including Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, and John Kennedy. In just 10 days a lifetime criminal will receive the same honor and recognition.

The January 6 report will reveal Trump as America’s greatest traitor. He will take the oath of office in 10 days, and every word will be a lie.

On January 20, America will become the only democratic nation in history to crown a president who is both a convicted felon and a traitor to his own country. Something all Americans can be proud of???

I am an old man with some of the problems created by the aging process. However, my mind is as strong as it ever has been, and therefore my memory is intact. I remember what it was like to grow up in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Patriotism was at its peak. My friends and I were part of a new America, a nation no longer at war. However, we learned about the horrors of war in school and in the movies. These lessons increased our love for our country. Our fathers and uncles had helped defeat fascism.

Along with our love of America, we were raised in an atmosphere composed of high moral standards and principles. From my family, my mother, my grandparents, and one special uncle, I was given life lessons I continue to possess at the age of 78. All people were equal, and no one was of greater importance than anyone else. Respect was earned, not freely given, and anyone who did not deserve your respect could not be trusted. I was raised in a family in which compassion and understanding were of greater importance than physical possessions.

Nothing I revealed about my past exists in America today. My feelings of patriotism disappeared nearly a decade ago as our government became the most corrupt and incompetent in the world. I read constantly, and the people of my once beloved country have drastically changed. Compassion and understanding for others is rare. Most Americans place themselves in a position of greater importance than anyone else. What I read tells me that for too many Americans the future of their own families is of lesser importance than their own immediate satisfaction and gratification.

On January 20, 2025 an immoral, unprincipled, convicted felon, who committed treason, the most heinous crime possible, will be sworn in and become your president for the second time.

I do not consider my image of an American president unrealistic. He or she should possess the highest moral standards imaginable. He or she should have strong principles which will never be surrendered under any circumstance. Most of all, he or she must serve every man, woman, and child in our nation. We, the people, are the United States of America, and our safety, our needs, and our hopes and dreams must be priority number one. Quality of life must become the goal of government not the profits of corporate America.

When Trump takes the oath of office, he will be lying with every word. He cares only about himself. He will continue to live a life of physical pleasure and debauchery. He has never sacrificed anything for another human being and will once again refuse to care for the needs or the safety of 340 million Americans. Trump fulfills the image of a man who should be securely incarcerated in a prison far away from humanity.

To be honest, I am greatly saddened about the changes in our nation’s people. Fear, anger, and hatred for anyone different than themselves has replaced compassion and understanding and the intent of the First Amendment. True patriotism has completely disappeared. Millions of our nation’s people are loyal to Trump and reject the principles contained in the Constitution, The words so eloquently written in the Declaration of Independence have no meaning.

To vote for a man without morals or principles is a crime. To vote for a man who is a convicted felon, a confirmed sexual predator, and a traitor to his country is a sin.

To sum up my feelings about America today, it is a nation without morals, principles, or laws.

I send out quotes to friends and family every day. January 8 was Elvis Presley’s birthday and I used several of his quotes. I remember his first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1956. I was 10 years old. The censors were concerned about Elvis’ leg and hip movements. CBS agreed to televise his performance from the waist up to prevent complaints about morals and dignity.

On January 20, an old man who was married three times, had multiple affairs during each marriage, and paid for sex with an adult film star, then lied about it, will become your president. He and Jeffrey Epstein were best friends for years. No one seems to care: but I do.
