Why a Democratic Republic?

Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart

Our Founding Fathers created a new form of government calling it a “Democratic Republic.” Their primary reason for leaving England inspired these courageous men to form a nation ruled by the people. Between 1787 and 1789 at the Constitutional Convention their focus was on issues which would guarantee the rights of all citizens and prevent any rule by a king or any other autocrat.

Before they moved to the New Land, King George III declared that the Anglican Church would be the British Empire’s one, true religion. Our Founding Fathers were wealthy and influential men, and for each of them, this was the last violation of their rights they would be forced to endure. Each of them believed in freedom of and freedom from organized religion.

To accomplish their lofty goals, they formed a government, calling it a “Democratic Republic.” The people would elect a president as well as the men who would form a legislature. There would be a third branch which would have a single purpose: to ensure that all laws, rules, and policies were aligned with the Constitution.

To prevent any form of autocracy, they designed a “check and balance” system, giving each branch, the executive, legislative, and judicial, equal but separate powers. However the legislative branch was given powers which prevent the executive branch from becoming a “king.” They considered the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights the most important paragraph ever written.

Sadly, in the 21st century, all three branches became corrupt.

The demise of the Republican Party began in 1981. However, it became final in 2016 with the illegitimate election of a failed businessman who was undoubtedly an asset of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Donald John Trump.

Every man and woman in Washington who were once proud members of the Grand Old Pary, renounced their principles, ideals, and morals in deference to the worst man in America.

In 2024, a corrupt and biased Supreme Court protected Trump’s ambition to become a “king,” or more accurately a fascist dictator whose beliefs were founded in the Nazi ambitions of Adolf Hitler in 1930’s Germany.

Today, the government of the United States is the most incompetent and corrupt in the world. The ambitions of our Founding Fathers have been quashed. All power has been surrendered to one, evil, fascist, and self-serving man, Donald “the Destroyer” Trump.

The brave men who created the United States of America have rolled over in their graves and tears are flowing down their cheeks.
