New York Times has Become Another Rag Sold Only at Grocery Store Checkout Lines
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart
When I find something I want to write about, two sources I
never use are the Washington Post, and the New York Times. The first reason is
because after I read a few articles, they block me unless I pay for them. To be
totally honest with you, they’re not worth a nickel of the little income I have
every month.
For example: I just learned that the Times recently
published an op-ed encouraging their readers not to vote in November; quickly
changed the title; and then removed the article completely.
First and foremost, any vote not for President Biden is in essence
a vote for Trump. This would be a repeat of the 2016 election. No one talks
about the truth, but Hillary Clinton had a relatively large lead in the polls
just before election day. However, a lower voter turnout than expect, mostly
attributable to Vladimir Putin’s interference on social media, resulted in
Trump’s victory in the Electoral College vote.
PURE IDIOCY
The article by “guest writer” Matthew Walther, was
originally titled: “Why I Don’t Vote. And Why Maybe You Shouldn’t Either.”
First and foremost, our vote is the only weapon we possess
to fight tyranny and corruption within our federal government. The fourth estate
is but a memory; it is our duty to save our country.
Second, this writer is obviously unaware of the enormous
voter suppression in red states. It is an irrefutable fact that the lower the
voter turnout, the greater the opportunity for Republicans to win elections.
THE NYT CHOOSES NOT TO BE SUPPORTIVE OF THE PRESIDENT,
IGNORING HIS MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS: WHY SUPPORT TRUMP?
In a recent statement President Biden virtually said, “f**k
you,” to the NYT. It is sad, but a fact, that our nation’s greatest newspapers
are literally dying. I miss the paper, but with limited circulation, there are
twice as many advertisements, and fewer articles by qualified writers
The Times, the Post, and others have become more opinion
oriented than publications offering the facts of what is happening in our
nation and the world. They have become more like FOX: entertainment and
sensationalism have replaced good reporting.
GLAD I’M OLD
I was fortunate to grow up in the 1950’s and 1960’s when
newspapers were our primary source of information. When television news began, great
journalists like Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow reported the news of the
day in one-half hour. There were no opinions, and no cooking segments on the
news.
I AM PROUD I DO WHAT I DO
I love writing. I also feel a responsibility to inform my
readers about the truth. It’s hard to find articles which contain facts today.
Sadder yet, is most Americans believe what they see on television “news” or
read on social media. Less than 50 percent of what you see on television is
founded in reality, and less than 10 percent on social media.
The truth will always live here. Thank you for reading
