Worst Houseguest Ever
Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart This is a “what if” story which has become an actual travesty and tragedy. What if you learned about an historical home which was burned to the ground on August 24, 1814 during the War of 1812, and there was hope that someone would rebuild it? What if you were very rich, and rebuilt one of the most important and cherished homes in the world as close to the original blueprints as possible. Then you decorated and furnished it with items which had been removed and spared before the fire was set, and spent many hours and large amounts of money to return the building to its former glory. Although you did not live in this huge and impressive mansion, you occasionally allowed others to reside in what had become an historical structure cherished by every person in your country.
