Why do you think that religion was the very first issue addressed in the Bill of Rights, established in 1789? THE IDEA, THE DREAM, AND THEIR GREATEST CHALLENGE Our Founding Fathers dreamed of a nation where all of its citizens were guaranteed free thought, freedom of action, absolute equality under the law and by the law, and each man would have a voice in their governance. They left their homeland in protest. King George III overstepped his powers, declaring the Anglican Church the only, true religion of the British Empire.
