Op-ed by TheWiseOldFart To any American with common sense, it is obvious that Trump supports a government shutdown. He is making an attempt to blame Democrats. However, progressives/liberals do not control a single one of our nation’s three branches of government. One thing, which has bothered me since I learned about the idiotic policy of a “debt ceiling,” Is how this punishes the only men and women who actually work in Washington. Those responsible for failing to perform the jobs for which they were elected or appointed will continue to live normal lives. Three unnecessary, corrupt, and incompetent groups will continue to receive their salaries and benefits: the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of our government. These are the most overpaid men and women in our nation’s capital, living lives of luxury and privilege at taxpayer expense, although they do nothing for all 340 million Americans.
